Hi everyone, trying a different route and posting in this section instead, has any been through the above operation? Basically where they create a new whole in your stomach and connect it to your jejenum to bypass a damaged/obstructed duodenum, I am desperate to find someone who has been through the same, I am 5 weeks post op now and things don't seem to be getting any better/easier!! Just need to find someone who has been there and can reassure that things do get better as I am slowly slipping into a very dark place. Thanks in advance. Darren.

Hi Darren. Just read this post after googling jejunostomy as my 13 year old son just had the jej due to obstructions higher in the small intestine. I know your post is some time ago and so I suppose I'm looking for some hope as he too is in a very dark place as no improvement ( in fact lost 4 kg since surgery- now only 27 kg) . I hope your situation has improved and would really appreciate any advice you or anyone else has to offer. Desperate parents Loz and liam

This is a late reply but I had this operation last December. A real shocker. Just got out of the hospital today for a blockage...if you are still checking this please update and I will fill in what I can. It wasn't easy but it was the only option the surgeon had for me.

Crohns is such a nightmare and so cruel. Sorry to hear you have had the blockage must seem never ending , hope you have sme relief now. Our son had the jej op 5 weeks ago and seems to have deteriorated ever since, he does have further complications due to strictures. Seems to tolerate the feed now but vomiting ever night - jej or strictures - who knows . Do you feel any benefit from the jej feed ? Any info would be much appreciated .

Sorry to hear about your son. I'm not sure what you mean by a jej feed, I am eating normally.

Actually this blockage, whatever the cause, was the first incident since my operation last December - perforation through an old surgery to my duodenum. I don't know all the fancy terms the doctors used to describe this. I've been feeling great since this last blockage, the operation and ileostomy made a huge difference. I can eat raw fruit again!

One thing I am doing differently is drinking more water in between meals, then not eating and drinking together at the same time. I am hungry almost all the time so it's not hard to get my saliva going - I think this is very important to assist digestion and providing enzymes to the stomach and intestine. Also, taking small bites, chewing lots so it's almost liquid before I swallow, and taking it very s-l-o-w during the meal.

I am eating no more leftovers to reduce bad bacteria. I am trying to eat lots of protein (chicken today) and rice, with a light sauce (mild butter chicken sauce, milk, yoghurt).

Does he feel pain before he vomits? Can he fast for a day or so, or can you blend food so it is soft and smooth? Might help reduce inflammation.
