So Ryan had is GI appointment this morning. He said he is going to up Ryan's remicade infusions to 6 weeks instead of 8 and if that doesn't work. Then he said we would have to look into some new meds. Also Ryan is doing better this week went to school for half a day today also went to football practice. I explained to his school about what's going on and they seem to be very helpful so happy about that. I'm also planing to talk to his football coach today after his practice, just to hopefully explain what is going on with Ryan.
Thank y'all so much :)

Thanks for the update Kaitlyn. :)

Fab to hear that Ryan is doing better! I hope ramping up the Remicade does the trick and he is soon well on top things again, Good luck!

Happy to hear Ryan is doing better Kaitlyn. Hopefully the 6 week schedule on the Remicade works.

I was always a bit fearful to speak to coaches and school about Johnny's illness, fearing they would treat him differently. But everyone has always been so understanding and it really helped. I hope you have the same experience. (((Hugs))))

I suggest you set up a 504 plan at the minimum. An IEP may be needed if he has extensive absences as this might require modifications to the curriculum so he isn't required to do all the work, just what's essential for him to demonstrate mastery. That way he's not always behind trying to catch up. Either one will also allow for accommodations like freedom to use the bathroom at any time w/o explanation, water and shade breaks during PE, etc. It's best to get these in place before you need them. The school is understanding now but if it continues for months they will stop being so understanding if only because the school district will be on their case.

Glad he's feeling better, well enough to go out to football! :D

Hopefully, the conversation with the coach went well! I also found my son's school and coaches were very supportive once they were aware of the problem.

And, hope the change in remicade does the trick! :thumright:

Thanks we have a 504 plan already but I still like to let his school know what is going on. Believe me I have had problems with the school for my other son.
