Ooook. So I am on no crohn meds and ever since I came off of them my hair has been coming out. Its getting worse and I have visible bald spots now...so sexy for a 19 year old. So I called my original doc that found the crohns and he told me he wants to see me asap. Has anyone experienced this and should I be worried? Thanks!

I also have hair loss, but it seems to be renewing because I am not getting bald.
It started when I started immunosuppressant (6-mp).
I understand that bad absorption (anemia) could also cause hair loss.
Are you taking any dietary supplement or vitamins? I think that should help on this.

My hair fell out in chunks when I was on Imuran. And like you say, can it get any sexier when there's also an increase in the amount of facial hair thanks to the Prednisone that one tapers off while waiting for Imuran to kick in?! Grrr.

On the plus side, the hair fallout subsided considerably after a couple of months and all my hair grew back.

And yes to what braveheart says...you might want to get your doctor to check your vitamin levels, particularly your B-vitamins. Part of the reason I think my hair started growing back was that I started monthly injections of Vitamin B12. I also had started increasing my intake of zinc and magnesium.

Take heart...it won't be forever!

Well I wish I could blame hair loss on my imuran. Remember, I'm not only the president of the hair loss club for men, I'm also a client...

I noticed hair loss a little while after I stopped Prednisone. I started taking Biotin at my doctors suggestion and also using a Biotin shampoo. Last week I went in to get my hair cut and my stylist was shocked about all the new growth. So something is working! What meds were you on?

Hi,
I experianced hair loss also - lost about half of it this Summer over two months or so. In fact parts of my eyebrows went blond and the hair on my legs stopped growing. I was not on any meds at the time either. The doc said it was a combination of severly low protein and the shock to your body after surgery.

She also said the stress on your body puts the hair to sleep and when it starts growing again the old hair falls out. If you have a little whiteish lump on the end of the hairs that fall out - it could be from this.

Good luck!

I was on asacol, prilosec and tapered off of prednisone. Then I took levbid and lotmotil. It happened after I stopped all meds and now if I put my hair up you can see the bald spots clearly! Hoping to get apt with doc today as when I called yesterday he wasn't very happy to hear this.

I appreciate everyones comments and suggestions!!! :)

I feel for you, I'm on 6MP and my hair is falling out significantly, and I'm 17; it can be so discouraging, all these body changes with the meds ontop of the disesase - but like everyone says, things should even out and your doc might have some good ideas too. :) I'm so sory, I'm sure you're beautiful even with some bald s pots!
