"She generally gave herself very good advice (though she very seldom followed it), and sometimes she scolded herself so severely as to bring tears into her eyes...."

Everything had been working "normally" with formed BM's for 2 days. Then I had to go and eat Crunch N' Munch. Seriously? Popcorn and peanuts? What was I thinking? I spent yesterday in agony, my abdomen so distended. The pain was so bad and for the first time in years I was constipated. Finally feeling more normal today, as I didn't eat anything yesterday.

I need to listen to my head and gut more often instead of my desperate taste buds.

Owwww, I'm having sympathy pains just thinking about eating popcorn and peanuts! I have been bad with diet lately myself (fruit and veggies have been my weakness) and I have been paying for it, so I totally understand. I hope you feel better soon and that you reach for a safer snack next time!

I can feel your pain. No, literally. :D

Went to Outback last night. Ate the salad. One wrong move in a day. Ok, I'll been good 12-24 hrs or so.

Had to eat some honey roasted peanuts before bed last night. HAD no.

Ugh. Pain? I feel ya. ;)

Jessica - I had to laugh, a few days before this I went to lunch with a friend and I HAD to have a salad. She even looked at me like I was crazy, she knows about the Crohn's and food restrictions. I was like, I'm dying for one, I'll be fine....

I'm pretty sure those were the two stupidest days I've had all year.

Hahahahahah oh man. I'm not laughing at you guys, I promise. I'm laughing at the fact that I did the same thing last night. I've been constipated like crazy lately, so I've been eating next to nothing. But last night, around 11pm, I started craving pizza. I wanted it SO bad, even though I knew it would cause problems. So I ordered two small pizza's, BBQ CHICKEN WINGS (WTF was I thinking) and apple pie. I ate like, 4 pieces of pizza, 5 wings, some fries and a piece of pie. Of course, I HAD to do this the night before I have to meet my new employer. Who doesn't know I have crohns. I really screwed myself over this time. It's 7:30am, and my stomach huuuuurts, so I took painkillers. Now I'm scared I'll be all loopy and stupid while I'm meeting them.

We need to stop listening to our stupid taste buds, and start listening to our illnesses. :(

Last week, not only did I have pizza, but I had PIZZA HUT PAN PIZZA. You know the stuff. The crust is like fried dough DRIPPING with grease and oil, the pepperoni is the fattiest, spiciest pepperoni around and there's SO MUCH CHEESE. I got the Pepperoni Lover's, of course, with triple pepperoni. And I got BUFFALO wings, with extra bleu cheese.

I was having a temper tantrum about my diet restrictions, obviously. I've been stressed out about my daughter, too, and just wanted some comfort food. Well, it was fun going in...

Oh my God, just thinking about buffalo wings (with bleu cheese, YUM!) and Pizza makes my bum hurt!! If I eat red sauce it's like liquid fire.....

But there is a place nearby that makes the best bbq wings, and I've been craving them....

We have a place called J. Timothy's here in Connecticut that makes "Dirt Wings" for $25 a bucket. You get like 40 wings and the "dirt style" wings mean that they sauce them, fry them, sauce them again, and then fry them again. They are SO good...

SarahAnne, if you don't mind me asking, were you ever on 6MP/Imuran? Did that have anything to do with your pancreatitis or gall bladder removal?

I almost lost my gall bladder 5 years ago to 6MP while I was in the hospital recuperating from drug-induced pancreatitis. The ER doctors were convinced I was an alcoholic (I guess all their pancreatitis patients are) and kept asking me how much I'd had to drink and refusing to believe that the answer was "nothing."

At one point, they left me in a hallway on a gurney for what I think was 8 hours. I was delirious with fever. I had just started dating my wife and she didn't get there till near the end, poor woman had only just met me anyway and had no idea what to do but my parents, as ever, were no help and she was who I called.

I had to check myself out and drive to a better hospital to be admitted and treated.

Muppet - yes I was on 6MP and Immuran for a few years. It worked really well for me, but eventually GI took me off. He was worried about liver problems! I had my gallbladder removed because I had lots of gallstones, I think I might have been on 6MP at the time but I can't remember. No one ever mentioned a connection.

The pancreatitis was recent, and the docs also couldn't believe I had it because I didn't have a gallbladder anymore. Apparently a lot of the time it is caused by gallstones that get into the pancreatic duct. Since I don't have that problem, they assumed it was alcohol related! I don't drink at all! Besides what it does to my gut, I have never liked the taste of alcohol. I'd rather have a soda. Some of the docs looked at me like, yeah right, but I seriously have half a glass of wine once a year.

Pretty sure the pancreatitis was due to meds my GI had me on unnecessarily. And then he didn't even catch it, ER docs did. I'm pretty much firing him, posted something about it in another thread. Going to see the big dogs at Univ. of Alabama in Birmingham, if I can make it until Aug. 26.

Carrie - LOL! When I eat salad usually it's the same as doing a bowel prep. Only it doesn't look like water coming out. Sometimes I just really want one though!!

yeah she came out of the bathroom and was like, "It looks just like it did when it went in!" (I do this with corn and cucumbers, woo fun!)

So the stool softeners definitely started working last night! I must have gotten up 3 separate times to go, and it wasn't D, formed but very skinny and all broken up. Each time I went ---TMI ALERT---I practically filled the bowl! Seriously, it was like 3-4 days worth of BM's. I'm used to going at least that much a day, no wonder I've been so uncomfortable. Stupid roughage blocking me up. :(

By this am, I was no longer distended! I was getting sick of looking like a 5 month pregnant anorexic teenager. I went a few more times and started to get the grumble. I had a ton of errands to run today I couldn't cancel (daughter's physical and shots!), and I got worried. Sure enough, by 12:30, the grumbling got bad. I had a massive blowout (complete with very loud gas) in the salon bathroom while my son was getting his haircut for school. :poo:

The music was pretty loud, so I don't think anyone heard ME, but my 4 year old daughter who had to go in with me pretty much let everyone know what I was doing. :stinks:

I promise I will never eat salad, popcorn, peanuts or anything else stupid again.

So since I am a beginner at this and Love veggies and fruits I am guessing they are out. Bread like just a bagel or plain pretzel seem to be tolerable. Will take any advice on food; really don't want to learn the hard or soft way!!

SarahAnne, if 6mp was good therapy for you except for hepatotxicity (liver problems), did you ever try taking it with allopurinol to moderate the liver toxic metabolite? With 6mp, allopurinol, and prometheus blood tests you might be able to use 6pm again. Prometheus tests are sometimes hard to get covered by insurance for this but it can't hurt to research.
