Hi just curious to know which food people find cause them problems with uc. I dnt eat red meat as i know it is hard to digest also i have been eating wholemeal bred instead of white but i have read a few comments which say to avoid wheat ?? Also fried food i avoid . Any more suggestions ?

Anything fibrous gives me issues as well as black coffee.

I can eat a salad once in a while but I have an easier with if the vegetables or fruits are cooked.

That's the fun part about UC and Crohns...everybody is different. I personally have minimal issues with red meat, but vegetables (obviously), dairy, fruits, anything high in wheat, bbq sauce, nuts, and most other foods cause me problems. Chicken seems to be the easiest on me...even fried chicken doesn't do a lot to me. I've met people that can ONLY eat certain seafoods. All other food is on their no no list. It sucks because you want some advanced warning, but really, it all comes down to trial and error.

its different for everybody.
I would sugest you make a daily journal of what you ate and when, along with symptoms or how you feel as well as how your bowel movements are...remember it takes a day two, sometimes less, depending on your body as to when what you ate comes out the other end.

wholewheat is harder to digest than processed wheat, although I tend to not eat any bread as it causes me pain (I do make my own loaves now and again which I find much tastier and seems to settle on my stomach better)

It would be worthwhile to keep a food diary and how you feel (maybe on a scale of 1-10) and see if anything that you eat or drink has an effect.

There is a thread in the food area of this forum (should be at the top) which gives an idea of what people can and cannot tolerate. Sorry for not linking it but the pc im using is soo slow

My personal things are wholewheat, lettuce, corn, caffine, fizzy drinks, sugary things (jelly sweets, red grapes etc). Theres many others which do unsettle my stomach but I can live with that as it isnt too bad and I enjoy eating them :p

Everyone is totally different, we are all such beautiful individuals :)

Sugar, caffeine, animal products (meat&dairy) are all inflammatory foods - they all go down a inflammatory pathway in the body, especially animal products as they contain something called arachidonic acid, which promotes inflammation within the body - so its best if possible to avoid these things.

Corn has also been shown (in studies) to promote infallamtory responses with IBDs

Personally I haven't eaten many foods for 16years and I only have to take meds perhaps once a year for very short periods. Garlic and raw onion is a big no no for me!!

Its all a big journey.

Light and Blessings fellow IBD people!!
