All, thanks for reading and potentially for the help. I recently moved to DC and am in dire need of a new gastroenterologist in the area. I have a pretty severe case of crohns, am 26, and have had one abdominal resection surgery to date. Currently I've had a flare and an abscess, which may lead to another surgery. I need to find a good gastro for when I get better to help manage and aggressively treat my recovery, symptoms, and any potential surgery. Do any members have any recommendations in the DC area? I currently live in Friendship Heights as a reference. Thanks for any help, as it is greatly appreciated!

Try Alan Diamond (link below) -- he is in Montgomery County (offices in Olney, Silver Spring, and Rockville). He has the best communication -- has an online portal for lab results and messages, HE makes the patient calls (not his office staff) -- nights and weekends!!! When my hematologist tried to hospitalize me last week because I fainted, he talked him out of it, then called me at home at 9:45pm to make sure I was doing ok, and re-ran tests the next day to show all was well. He has done some minor surgery -- outpatient stuff - for me, but thankfully I haven't needed anything major. He has an endoscopy center in Rockville, and does more detailed procedures at Montgomery General in Olney (which is heads and shoulders better than Shady Grove Hospital in Rockville). The only concern I do have is that he is a bit older, and I do worry about having to switch when he decides to retire. But he is worth that risk - I feel very well cared for and will just cross that bridge when I come to it.
