Good doctors at Mayo or Cleveland Clinic?

I have Crohn's, and the past year or so, I've had some very unusual sypmtoms that no one really knows how to deal with. We have a teaching hospital about an hour away that I had my resection at, but the IBD guru has left since I had surgery and there really isn't a "go-to" person there now.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend someone at Mayo or Cleveland that is really good? Cleveland has 10 doctors on their site, and Mayo has 79! I can't possibly figure out who is good. I am quite fussy about who I will go to, as I am an RN in the GI Lab, and I know from working there that some doctors are much better than others; and that some aren't as great as they may seem to an outsider looking in.

I have an appointment in three weeks with my surgeon, and I will ask her, but I don't know if she'll know anyone so far away. I also have one of the doctors here doing some research into who is better, but I'd like to hear from any of you with experience! TIA.

Hi girn, I am not in the States, so I can't help you out... but I just wanted to wish you luck in finding a good one.

Hi GIRN!! I know exactly what you mean, growing up with several family members in the med field! I only know about the docs at Mayo in Jax, Fla. sorry! I saw Dr. Cangemi there, and he was absolutely awesome!!! Wish my insurance had not changed where Mayo was no longer covered. :( Anyway, Good Luck!!! Sounds like you already found the Mayo site, where of course they tell about their docs.

Thanks anyways, everyone! The doctor I trust most at work did find one that he believes I should go to, Dr. Lashner at the Cleveland Clinic.
