Ok I have been having pain and gurgling in my stomach alot today. I also have pain on my left side. I have Crohns on my right and I think spastic colon on the left. So I have gone 3 times today and the third is green. What does that mean?

?? Dunno sounds like a normal morning for me lol
goes from brown to green to yellow to orange to red etc

I doubt I'll find a pot of gold at the end of that rainbow tho lmao

Yea I've heard that to Bec
thing is I've mainly been eating steamed chicken and boiled potato or mashed potato
some bananas and some bread

I was told that simply the green poo is down to the D , mine starts off brown then orange , then yellow then green - I think the green is simply the digestive juices you'd not normally see ? I know when I had surgeries the drain they put down to get rid of the bile etc used to come out green and after a bout of bad sickness I'd eventually start to produce the green that way - and my god does it taste disgusting lol !

Worth keeping an eye on it and I'd suggest if you're concerned give Gi or Doc a call.

What have you been eating? I find anything with artificial colours will tint my poo.

yeah just recall what you ate in the last two days or so. I had green poo a couple of times and panicked, but then realized it was only after I would drink Powerade. Could be just food coloring

I had green poo the other day also - not sure what it was from...next time was fine.

Also, when I prep for a scope, at the end whatever comes out has a green tinge to it- I think that is bile/digestive juices coming out with nothing mixed in.....

Weird, whenever I prep mine comes out yellowy-orange, regardless of what color jell-o I'm eating. I also tend to poo yellowy-orange when I'm flaring so maybe that's just me.

Mine was bright orange at the end of the prep, I also seem to recall when I have had a stomach bug and have vomited really badly, by the end I would bring up a teaspoon or so of bright orange, so I guess that colour is stomach acid or something.

The normal brown colour of poo is caused by bilirubin, which is formed by the breakdown of red blood cells. So maybe if you have the runs and poo more than you produce the bilirubin tgat's why you get wierd colours?

I asked my dr. about the green poo while I was in the hospital, and he said it was bile. I assumed that I was "pooped out" and bile was all that was left? Also -- blueberries make your poo green! Go figure - you'd think it'd be blue?

When we were on holiday my boyfriend had a lot of blue lagoon cocktails one night. The next morning he had bright green poo. So it does happen to non Crohnies too!

huh.. see it's something like the fact of "green poo" that makes me notice that i've prolly had crohn's from a very young age (toddler age), but unlike now when it just comes up with no triggers; the only time it seemed to flaire up , up until a month ago, was when something with extreme stress was taking place, and I'd book it to the rest room with stomach pains and sweating, and my poo would be green. When i tried describing this to nurses and i was younger they looked at me like i was crazy or something, so I didn't go on and say anything.. I wonder now if the food not going down my throat, and getting stuck, and the only way for it to go anywhere is back up, is part of crohn's as well.. but anyways...
I know what you mean about the green poo.. Odd isn't it? If it's not normal for you though, you should definantly get it checked out..

Mine was green tonight, mild tint. They've stayed solid so at least that's good.

Now to wait for my Cobra papers to come in the mail so I can see a doctor again. I'm getting a ton of gassiness that I think feels more responsible for my gut pains lately. Gas can HURT apparently. Trying to restrict my diet a bit to be safe til I can get some medical help.

Apparently green can eman that food is gonig through you too quick and not being fully digested. This can be due to many things, including stress.. likely my reason heheh.

This is the best thread ever.

Do you ever wish that you had a day where our poo didn't matter? My husband was complaining about being constipated the other day and he knew by the way I looked at him that I was green with envy (pun totally intended)

Everyone eat canned spinach and meet back here in 24 hours and we will all discuss the green phenomenon.

All kidding aside, when there is nothing left to poo you get bile which is dark green. I know this because when I had my gallbladder out (open surgery) I had a drain that was just a tube with a clamp on the end I had to have the drain for three weeks due to the fact that I am an over achiever and tried to die due to a stone that was shutting off my bile duct and backing the bile up into my system which is really not pleasant. So when I got home from 5 days in the hospital I thought it would be a really good idea to eat a dove bar. To those that don't know what that is it's a chocolate ice cream bar dipped in chocolate. Very rich, very high fat content very stupid thing to do. After I ate it I immediately felt like my gallbladder grew back and was in excruciating pain.

Soooooo, they told me if I had pain and pressure to release the little clamp and drain the bile. So as I said earlier I am a medical over achiever so when I released the clamp I was not prepared for the thing to exlode. I figured it would be a litlle drip. No, I shot bile all over my dressing area of my bedroom. Carpet to ceiling, bile everywhere. Stained everything it came into contact with.

So I am experienced with green bile shooting everywhere and poo'ing when uncle d comes calling.

Also, vegetabe dyes used in concentrated form such as to tint frosting will do that too. I never worry about the color of my poo until it starts turning a whitish clay color. That means my liver is toxic and I need to call the doc.

I know this is way more info than I needed to give but it is somewhat liberating to be among my own kind and be able to speak freely about my poo and everyone elses poo.

It's really weird what we crohnies endure!! Who else has goofy colored poo all the time?

I've noticed it myself here lately few times. Never really paid much attention to that kind of stuff befor CD. But now my tum tum has a mind of its own. :yfaint:
