Hi

I am new to the forum and as yet undiagnosed. I have all the usual symptoms and at the moment raised CRP. Not sure to what level, my dr is seeing me on Wednesday.

Today, despite feeling better pain wise I am still exhausted and feel fragile....I needed yo toilet badly and when I went it was dark green.....is this normal ?

Please respond, love to you all.

Jx

Green usually means iron or blood and no it is not normal. But, I would also first rule out types of foods you've been eating or juice you've been drinking. As, these too can turn your feces green.

Thanks, only thing with real colour I've had is blackcurrnt juice.

I meant is it normal in IBD sufferers ?...

As said above, it can be a sign of blood, and this is never normal, even for people with IBD , you should still let your doctor know about it so they can look into it if they need to, a simple stool test can detect blood, so it's well worth it.

Hi jazzie, just wondering how you are getting on? Did you get in touch with your doctor and did they have any comfort or useful advice for you? Hoping things cleared up :) .

Maybe I should clarify what I meant by never normal, it is common for people with IBD to have blood in their stool, but it's not 'normal ' in the sense that it is something you can ignore or something that you have to accept. If it is a new symptom your GI always needs to know.

Do you recall having any blue food dye? There was one day where I decided to make bright blue cupcakes, and nevertheless; I was pretty damn surprised too.

I hope it's nothing too serious!

Good luck with your appointment, I'm sure they will take you seriously, any doctor that doesn't isn't doing their job properly

exactly what Sammy said... I'm on 4 different supplements, b12, d3, fg, and Iron... and I poo green b/c of the iron, I also take cal/mag, and fish oil... but like the others have said... tell your doc...

another thing you may want to do is to keep a food/bowel/pain/med log to document this stuff, then u can look back at the log in the event there is evidence of cause... hope that helps helps.
