My new primary care doc ordered the H. Pylori Antibody blood test. Here are my results:
1. My value is .59
2. The ranges are:
Seronegative less than .90
Equivocal .90 - 1.09
Positive greater than 1.10.

It says, "Antibody not detected. Patient presumed to be uninfected and susceptible to primary infection."

I don't understand how it's not detected, because it gives a value. What does that mean? I didn't have a chance to ask the doctor yet.

Thank you.

Means it's insignificant, you can get values for celiac much higher than 0 too, but there's a range withing it must fall for it to matter.

Half the population has H Pylori, but only in extremely few people does it cause issues.

Do you have ulcers in your stomach or something?

Thank you for responding.

I have nausea, pain, and heartburn. I had gastritis, but I don't know if I still have it. My colonoscopy showed ulcerations. The ulcers may have been from constipation.

They would have been able to know by the biopsy whether the H-pylori was causing the ulcer or your crohns.

I also have H-pylori, I was diagnosed with a stool sample. The fact is that most people have h-pylori. In third world countries, 100% of the people have it. Some will go on to have ulcers from it.

The treatment is taking several different antibitoics at once. Also treatment has a VERY high faliure rate. The h-pylori almost always comes back.

There are some natural things that are suppose to help it. One is Manuka Honey. Another thing is Siberian tiger pine nut oil and also mastic gum. I have used the pine nut oil when I had gastritis symtpoms and it helps alot. My friend also has a 4 inch bleeding ulcer, she was diagnosed with one after she had liver surgery. She refused to take any PPI's like nexium. She went on the pine nut oil and it healed her ulcer!

But again, I think the biospy would have been able to tell if your ulcer was from the h-pylori or the crohns...

I'm not diagnosed with IBD yet. They just said the ulcers were from constipation.

The colonocsopy biopsy didn't mention H. Pylori. Here is my path report. Descending colon, biopsy: Colonic mucosa with edema and hemorrhage. No evidence of ischemic injury, inflammatory bowel disease or active inflammation.

I take Pepcid which helps the GERD/heartburn.

hmm, I would try not to worry too much about the h-pylori unless you start having severe ulcer symptoms( you would know it, it is WAY worse than gerd pain or gastritis). It usually will wake you up in the middle of the night too. Honestly, the more accurate test for h-pylori is stool test or stomach biopsy. But again, lots of people have it and dont even know it.
