Hey all, long time no see.

So, it finally happened. Poor choices + negligence + Stress = Kind of a bad flare-up. Was in the bathroom every 10 minutes as my body rejected everything in it. Got home and just felt EVERYTHING inside just... quiver. Body telling me it's going through trauma?

Anywho, I just moved to Florida about 6 months ago, and found a G.I. recommended by my insurance and since I'm a new patient describing my Crohn's history with the G.I. He doesn't believe a word I'm saying. Nevermind the fact I was told to disrobe and put on the paper dress to check for rectal bleeding, I wasn't even checked. I was diagnosed with this disease well over 6 years ago. Is this because as a new patient, and not having a hard copy of my prior medical history? (His first words to me were literally, "How do we know for sure it's Crohn's?) Does anybody have experience with records transfer? At no time during the visit was there anything in any paperwork about previous medical provider, are getting my records transferred as easy as calling my Ohio doc to send them to my FL doc?

Otherwise, 6 vials of blood and a bottle of Golytly later.. Cheers. Thanks for letting me vent. Methinks I should find a new guy? or secure those records and let this all play out?

This is what happened to me as well when I went to the GI without my records stating I had IBD. They act as though I'm new to this an don't know what I'm talking about...so it stalls care and meanwhile I'm left suffering...which sounds like u are too. Usually you can sign a medical release form at the new doctors office to have your records from previous doctor sent to them. It's usually fairly easy and doesn't take too long from doctor to doctor. I would suggest you do that as soon as possible to hopefully speed up care with your new dr. Wish you luck! Sorry you're feeling bad again :(

If you get the feeling that your doctor is being "thorough," well, I guess that could be a good thing, and it might be worth your while to follow up regarding your medical records. However, if he's being straight up dismissive, I'd seriously consider looking for someone else. No one needs a doctor that's gonna make the patient feel like he or she is somehow wasting their doctor's time.

So that aside, hi! As a relative newbie who is still working towards remission, do you mind if I ask you what you mean by "negligence?" Do you mean diet, no maintenance meds, or both? I know that stress can be a major factor, I'm dealing with that myself, but I was curious about what else might have triggered your recent flare. I hope you end up feeling better ASAP, and welcome back!

All of the above, JD. Shitty diet (McDonalds 3x in less than 72 hours, candy, Monster Lo-Carb, coffee+espresso, and pizza), no maintenance, no meds (haven't seen any type of medical practitioner nor taken any meds in about a year), Lots of undue stress (my 87 year old grandfather just passed away from renal failure and I couldn't make the funeral back in OH), work-related stress, no sleep/overnight at the workplace to try and work ahead of the curb, smoking, etc.

A decent nights' sleep and a toke did me wonders though.

If it were me, I would try to get my records for your lukewarm doc and another copy for a backup appt with a dif doc...see which one pans out.
