Hair Loss

Did any of you have hair loss? I've been diagnosed with IBS but due to 30-40 pounds of weight loss, bleeding, severe diarrhea and pain I'm going for second opinion. However, last weekend I woke up with a bald spot on my head and it appears to be getting bigger. I'm going to a dermatologist but was just curious if anyone here had this.

For me personally I think the two can be connected, bowel problems and hair loss. I've had times where I was able to have my gut working correctly through a limited diet. When that happened I found my hair turned nice and soft in appearance and feel. When the gut is not working properly, which is normally the case, my hair is dried out and brittle. I developed a bald spot during one of my worst episodes that has been slowly growing over the years.

I'm hoping if I ever figure out what causes my gut to be troubled, the thinning hair will fill back in. But time will tell.

i have had hair thinning in the past once when i was severly underweight and again after surgery.

if you are having hair loss that results in 1 patch being exposed- it may not be for the same reason. i would think that the hair loss would be over the whole head. you're doing the right thing by getting it checked out.

A friend of mine had hair loss because of stress and that was in a patch at the top of the back of her head. The hair grew back eventually.
