Ho All, I said I'd follow up with you guys to let you know how I'm doing. It's been 4days since my surgery and I must say....OUCH!!! Lol its very painful. It's mostly the gasses or airpockets I call them rumbling around in my belly. When I let the air out of my stoma it feels so much better. But most of the time the air jus sits there rumbling and its painful. Today they ate starting me on a light diet. See how I do and possibly be released tom to go home. Not sure yet thou. But thank you everyone for your love support and prayers. I'm so very happy with my decision. My wound nurse is so surprisedas to how well emotionally I'm adjusting. I just tell her, I know how much I was suffering with my Crohns. I'm happy bc I kno now I'll have my life back and be able to once again enjoy it with my kids and family.

Thanks,
Virginia

:hug:Yay! For me those gas pains was the worst! It helped when i gently massage my belly clockwise so the air starts moving. it really helped and soon my stoma started rumbling :D Other that helped was hot tea. And of course, WALKING. Just walkwalkwalk. :) It'sgetting better when you got something to eat, for me it helped. I got my first poo in the bag 8 days after surgery. My bowels where very slow. It's getting better every day! :)

The gas pains can be awful but as long as you have output your plumbing is working properly. Just keep it bland for a few weeks and then introduce one food at a time.

What appliance did the hospital put you in? For me it was a Hollister 2 piece.

Aaarrgh! The gas pains!! But hooray for starting a meal! I'm so glad you are doing well.

Ugh! Yes, those gas pains or no joke. But walking is def a must. Even thru my gas pains I wait for the pain killers to take affect and then I start walking up and down the hall. I had a great output this aft after lunch. I was impressed. I haven't had a "normal" looking stool for a very long time. So I can already see the improvement the stoma has given me. I do agree bland foods for this week and take it easy before I grub on my dads homemade rice and beans with chicken! Mmmmm. Lol. I'm now wearing Hollister 1piece bag. They gave me samples of The 2piece as well with various sizes bc I mentioned that I'd like the 2 piece. To be honest. I think I'm gonna stick with the one piece only smaller size bc I'm tiny and these bags are just humongous on me. Lol. But once I get the hang of it I probably move onto the 2 pc even so its alittle more bulkier than the 1 pc. Also, today I emptied my own bag all by myself with no one watching over me and I must say, I did a pretty darn good job! So far things are slow but majorly improving. Taking it a day at a time. :)

Congratulations Crohnzie girl and welcome to the club. It seems like you are coping really well which is fantastic. Good on you. Play around with the samples you are given and get more sent out from the companies so that you can see what suits you. If you don;t have a huge output you may find that one of the smaller bags suits you. Check out the companies websites or give them a call. All the people who answer the phones here are very kind and helpful and understanding so I assume it would be the same over there.
Rice and beans sounds yum, but I'm not sure about the gas afterwards.......just be prepared to be letting it out of your bag all night!!!
