I think we need a thread that is the opposite of mini-vents. I'd like this to be the place where we can talk about all the nice little things that make our days brighter! Let's get the positivity going! :)

Here's mine: I got something awesome yesterday, a chaise lounge! I'd been wanting one for awhile but could never find one that was within my price range. For some reason those things are expensive! But I found one at a local thrift shop for cheap, and it's a smallish one (fits me perfectly and I'm on the thin side - fits my small cramped living room too). It's cute and a bit retro (in a good way) and so comfy too! I love it!

Also, my dog learned a new trick and it's a good one! Just today she learned how to ding a bell to let us know she has to go outside and potty. We put a little bell down on her level by the back door, and we've been dinging it every time we take her outside. After a few weeks, she "got it" and realized she should ding the bell to let us know to take her out. I'm so proud!

I spotted a squirrel in the garden yesterday, eating the bird nuts, and am thrilled!

I am not right on top of trees, he had to scoot two houses worth of fence to get back to the nearest tree so really pleased he paid me a visit. Hopefully he will come back, and I am making sure to leave nuts out every day (they are a treat so not something I feed the birds, and hedgehog, all the time). I even saved some hazelnuts from a snack pot to put out.

:D

Broke as broke can be when I won $100 from a contest with my bank that I had forgotten I'd entered.

Yesterday I went on what I call a "bat walk" where I walk around certain areas and look for bats. I saw 3! :) They roost in certain areas during the day (a strip mall of all things!) during this time of year, so I walked a bit at the strip mall and saw some bats. It was very cool, they're one of my favorite animals.

Also, the Green Bay Packers (American football) finally won a game! It's still pre-season so doesn't really count for anything, but they lost their first 2 pre-season games rather pathetically so it was nice for them to finally win one.

It's almost spring here, and there are buds on the jasmine vines :)
It's always my favorite time of the year - when they flower the perfume is magnificent!

I just won a lovely dress on E-bay for a real bargain price.
It's to wear to my lil' sisters 18th birthday in a couple of weeks, I don't go out so much now so I am really looking forward to dressing up and hitting the town..in my £7 dress :)

Mr squirrel is so happy and relaxed in my garden he perched on a chair eating the hazelnuts!

Looks like I am buying a few proper bags of them tomorrow :)

He looks to be a young one, makes sense, he is spreading out finding his own territory.

We have trees near us and usually with trees you get squirrels. But having lived here almost 7 years i've never seen one until last week- and being in my garden was wonderful.

:rosette2:

Star, we should do an exchange - I'll send you dozens of squirrels if you'll send me a hedgehog or two! We have tons of squirrels here but there are no wild hedgies in North America.

So, I'm pretty happy. Hubby finally got approved for unemployment so we're getting a little money from that now, phew! Our bank account was very nearly empty and he just got his first unemployment check yesterday so now we're able to breathe a little easier money-wise. It's not much, but it's something and that's definitely better than nothing!

Also, this is pretty cool. There's this guy, he's kind of a hero of mine. He's the creator of one of my favorite things ever, and I friended him on Facebook awhile back. Then I saw that someone had drawn some fan art for this guy and posted it to FB, so I showed it to hubby and he said he could do better. So even though hubby isn't a huge fan like I am, hubby drew some fan art for the guy anyway, the guy said he loved it, and I thought that was it and a few months went by. But then out of the blue, the guy recently contacted me and hubby - he looked at the fan art again and still loves it, and he wants to use hubby's art on t-shirts and posters, and he'd like hubby to draw a comic strip for him too! That's so ridiculously cool. I don't think hubby is going to be paid for it, at least not until we see how well the shirts sell and stuff like that, but it's just super cool that hubby's art is going to showcase one of my favorite things. :D This is all in the early stages, but I'll update you guys if/when the shirts are available and the comic strip is up and stuff like that. Hubby and the guy are still brainstorming ideas back and forth through email so nothing's actually been done yet. Still, though, so cool and exciting! Hopefully this opens doors for hubby job-wise too!

(And sorry to be so vague, but not many people know about this stuff yet so I'm purposely not saying who the guy is or what my favorite thing is - the guy tends to be secretive and likes to surprise his fans, so I'm trying to keep all this under my hat as much as I can, but it's so cool that I just had to share a little bit with you guys!)

Also, my dog learned a new trick and it's a good one! Just today she learned how to ding a bell to let us know she has to go outside and potty. I have a string of bells hanging from the patio door. I used to take the cat's paw and make the bells sound, then let the cats out. They finally got the hang of it. The biggest cat will go wild with the bells if you don't stop what you're doing and let him out. LOL!

I recently got me 2 new kittens that lives to cuddle and be petted all the time. They battle to get to me to see who gets the most love! 😄

Congrats on your anniversary Mountaingem! My hubby and I just celebrated our 10 year wedding anniversary last week. :)

My hubby got a job! It's part-time and the pay isn't much, but it's a start. He's going to be working in a costume shop, what could be cooler than that? The lady who owns the shop is really cool and is someone we've known for awhile, so I know she'll be a fun boss. I'm just glad hubby managed to find some form of employment! He was getting pretty depressed, I think this will cheer him up quite a bit. :) His comic strip/t-shirt project thing is on hold for now but he'll still be able to work on that too whenever it happens. Good stuff!

I got some good news at my job! So my job currently involves me sitting at the reception desk for half the day and answering the phones and stuff, and then working on various projects the other half the day. Myself and another girl take turns sitting at the reception desk. Recently they decided that my talents are being wasted by me sitting at the reception desk, so they're going to have the other girl do reception full-time and I won't have to do it anymore! It sounds like starting next week, I will get to work on more interesting projects and won't have to be a receptionist anymore! Yeah!! This is excellent news! :D

One of my son's friends dropped in just to see how I was since my son left for the Marine Corps a few months back. I thought it was so sweet. My son has really great friends. I guess that's because he's such a good guy himself. I'm a lucky mom.

Last year, I helped my grandfather with a video project (he wanted a DVD of himself reading bedtime stories aloud, so that after he's gone the grandkids and great grandkids will still be able to hear stories told by grandpa). After working on that project, my video camera stopped working and is essentially an expensive paperweight now. My grandfather found out about my camera no longer working, and he gave me some money to buy a new one - and he said that if the money isn't enough, to just let him know and he'll give me more. Wow! I don't intend on spending more than what he gave me, but that's still a really nice gesture! (It wasn't like it was his fault or anything that the camera broke, it just happened by coincidence right after I worked on his project, so he really didn't have to do this but it's super nice that he did.)

Ahh furry friends really do help when you are feeling unwell :)

Just got 4 tickets to see Mumford and sons in my local town, so happy that such a big act are coming to visit little old us, in a nice intimate venue.

Bouncing today
:dance::yoshijumpjoy::cheers:

Wow a six day weekend, well a travel day and two day conference in advance of a long (Canadian Thanksgiving) weekend.

My curves are back !
I know the glossies would have us believe that everyone wants to be stick thin, but looking in the mirror when I was 8 and a half stone used to make me feel like crying.
Hello ****ies !
:highfive:

:wub:My hubby surprised me by taking the day off to go see the space shuttle Endeavor at the California Science Center-woohoo!

I had the courage to be open and honest with someone about something a few days ago. While the outcome is unknown at the moment, it feels great to finally have the courage to speak up for myself. It's like a weight has been lifted off of my shoulders :)

I got a letter in the mail stating that I was awarded an $85 settlement from a class action lawsuit that I had no idea even existed.

Hooray for free money!

Starting when I first got ill, I'd buy myself a new bottle of nail polish any time I had to go to the doctor or pharmacy. It really cheered me up, it wasn't expensive, and I could paint my nails even when I was feeling really ill or when I was on the toilet. But of course I amassed a large collection of nail polish pretty quickly so I have had to cut back on my nail polish habit! I haven't bought nail polish in awhile now, probably a couple of months or so and I try to only buy one bottle at a time. But today I really wanted some new nail polish and figured I'd better make up for lost time so I bought 4 bottles - all sparkly ones, as the sparkly ones are my favorite. So sparkly!! :D It shouldn't make me this happy but it does.

I spent an hour with my 3 day old nephew in my arms sleeping and happily cooing.

Ahhh sweet.

I went to see the Doc today, first time since I started treatment. I am really chuffed cos he said I looked well, had gained weight and best of all the inflammation markers are normal!
