A friend suggested Oregano Oil to help relieve many Crohn's symptoms. Has anybody tried this stuff before, or even heard of someone using it for Crohn's?

I've used oregano oil along with grapfruit seed extract to kill yeast. I had one occasion where my stool smelled like oregano but other than that I have no issues with it.

It probably kills good bacteria too so I take probiotics and eat fermented foods.

If you are going to use it, I recommend the enteric coated pills. Sometimes burping up oregano is a little intense.

i have tried the oregano p73 pills, i did not notice any improvements while on it for a short time, but it did seem to get toxicity symptoms from it, the stuff actually smells pretty harsh even when you open the bottle, my test was fairly scientific too, i typically set up my a control period and a test period for a very strict comparison and the only variable i change is the one im testing, followed my a washout period to further confirm the disappearance of effects when removing the tested variable, then i make my decision.

I decided that oregano oil is toxic, i dont even eat the spice oregano anymore, i prefer marjoram and basil, they do not smell toxic, i believe they are better suited for human ingestion. but oregano oil is very good at killing bacteria, good and bad bacteria, this has been shown in studies. so my own instincts from just smelling it seem to be a pretty good way of measuring and predicting what is good for my body, despite my own scientific tests and the studies that exist.

a better choice for antibacterial purposes is coconut oil, but some caution because ti is saturated fat and can be oxidized to contribute to blood clots/clogging arteries, if you have any degree of vascular issues, just start at a small dose and very slowly ramp up. 3-7 grams a day may be enough to notice benefits, it may not be wise to exceed more then 14 grams a day, our bodys only require so much of this type of fat, for it dominate our intake so much over other fats may not be good, others like poly and mono unsaturates are also needed.
