Has anyone else used suppositories?

Suppositories????

hi i just need some advice on what to do, my doc has given my suppositories to try and i don't think they are working because i get some side effects when i use them :confused2: ? also i can't seem to empty my bowels properly is this a good or a bad thing?? please tell me what side effects you have had or if you have had any????

I'm not sure on whether to stop using them or not?? would stopping using them be a good or bad idea??

i'm on the pentasa suppositories?? the ones where you don't take them through your mouth instead you take them via your backend? not fun

It's been almost 11 years now since I've had to do this and that was my complaint and this is what I was told....
If you're feeling like you haven't fully evacuated your bowels it my just be the the medication (think and sticky) sticking (doing it's job) on the inner wall of your rectum/intestines.

My DD takes Canasa. She was having the same issue. I contacted her GI and he said constipation was a side effect. He told us to do every other night for 1 week, then every 3rd night, bc if your constipated the medicine cannot get where it needs to be to even help. My rule of thumb is if she has empty bowels at bedtime she gets it otherwise I follow the doctors schedule. We have gone to the 4 th night before. My doc said it was best to ween. Hope your feeling better!
