Hi all,

I have just been told my condition isnt inflammatory and its more than likely IBS. Looking at probiotics and comes across "symprove". Anyone tried this with success for IBS-D?

Its expensive at £20 a bottle but there have been good reports.

This has been developed by kings college London and in the trial its said to have betters symptoms of up to 60% of the sufferers.

I've never heard of it sorry.

If you type in "symprove" in the search engine box at the top of your screen you will come across previous threads that may be helpful however it does not look like many people have discussed it on here in the past.

Hopefully someone can chime in for you. Good luck!

Yeh I done the search bit, nothing came up. Thought it was better to post here.

It's only available in the UK so maybe that's why people havnt tried much on here? Not sure lol

I tried it for a while. It seemed to do nothing other than make the gurgling worse. But this was when I had what turned out to be a stricture so nothing like this was going to help.

Tastes quite nice.

The first order of concern is the fact that its liquid. Which leads me to assume it's not going to make it the colon all at once. That I believe is where enteric coated capsules come in, allowing it to arrive like a bomb dropping from a plane or...perhaps more like billions of army men parachuting into a drop zone. You get the idea.

I'd also be concerned with the dosaging. You may want to focus on a high daily dosage that's going to be at least a 500 billion cpu. The only ones I know of that fit that criteria are Elixa and VSL3. The goal being to get as many into the colon as possible to try to get them to colonize. As far as the strains go, the ones mentioned on the website are all fairly common in most OTC probiotics.

I'm just getting into experimenting with supplemental probiotics so this is about all I know so far.

Sucralose?
No thanks.

It'll do more harm than good to me. Sucralose is a FODMAP and an artificial sweetener and should have no place in any 'health' supplements.
