Does anyone else with CD have really bad headaches on a daily basis? My head is pounding as soon as I open my eyes in the morning and worsens throughout the day? if so what do you do for it?

Hi: Ack, so sorry to hear about the headaches. I had these every day up until I finally got started on treatment for Crohn's. Have you spoken with your GI about your options? Mine went away with a round of Cipro and Flagyl and haven't come back. Tylenol couldn't touch them, but I'm planning to try the over the counter Tylenol + Codeine combination if they come back. Hope you find relief SOON!!!!

So I'm not the only one? I have only been on 6mp and Salofalk for one week. Do you think from your experience they should go away after a few more weeks on the meds?

Headaches are fairly common and there could be many different causes for them such as lack of sleep, dehydration etc. I usually try to drink more fluids and do take a pain reliever like Tylenol and sometimes take a sleeping pill for my insomnia. Speaking with your doctor could help as Kelly suggested where they may be able to find the cause or at least help with pain management.

Hiya

I suffer terrible headaches, from the moment I wake up!
where is your headache? I ask cos mine is at the base of my skull and works up over my head into my left eye.
Apparantly, it's coming from my neck, my osteopath called it Arnolds Neuralgia (Occipital)
it mimics migraines and is often misdiagnosed as such. Also, spondylosis, this is wear and tear of the cervical ligaments and joints in the neck, which also has referred pain in the head. Both are throbbing stabbing pains, caused by inflammation. Google them and do some research, it could be a Crohnie thing! Relief comes from Ibuprofen to blitz the inflamm, but unfortunately, it causes havoc with our guts!
My doc has given me Amitryptiline 10mg, an anti depressant, but in low doses blocks the nerves receptors to reduce pain and helps you to sleep too!
I take Syndol, this is contains paracetamol, codeine and caffeine, and doxylamine succinate to relax muscular tension.
do some research, headaches can be referred pain from your neck
hope you get some relief, I totally empathise!

Joan, I had problem the same as what you described and I got rid of the headaches by seeing a Chiropractor. From the base of my neck to the top of my spine was shifted at least 3 inches and was putting pressure on my spinal cord. After about 6 wks of adjustments you could see the differance of how the spine had staightened.

Hiya Pirate

I've seen an osteopath 3 times, but he's £40 a sesh!
it was he who said I had Arnolds Neuralgia, I've also seen a chiropractor many years ago, he re aligned my spine, he said I had one arm longer than the other!
Maybe I should go back to him, dunno?
I'm in terrible pain, so I'm off to the GPs, I'm wondering whether a course of Pred might work?
anyone know whether it will?
xxx
