I have seen some talk about assistance from your state for health insurance. I think MLP mentioned in another thread secondary insurance for kids who are covered on insurance, but the state helps pay for the rest. Does anyone know where to find info about this? We're in Kansas -- and so far I can find state insurance but it looks like for uninsured and we don't qualify income-wise. I didn't know if there was a specific name. And if you have to be diagnosed for coverage? If we are looking at a lot more tests in the near future it sure would be great to have coverage.

Thanks so much!! I don't see it anywhere on there -- I am going to be so mad at this stupid state if they don't have it! gah!

I'd check with your doctor's office to see if they know anything about disability insurance that the state provides for children with disabling chronic medical conditions. My doctor here mentioned it when I first moved here and at that time my daughter only had a seizure disorder. She knew about it because her son is autistic. If you know of anyone who has a child who has chronic disabilities, they might know about how to go about signing up for it. It has been a blessing for us ever since we started having to test for the Crohn's. Right now we are going through a renewal process and it is scary to wonder whether they will still deem her disabled since she is off her seizure meds. I'm hoping they will see her Crohn's as being disabling too...

Good to know -- I will see what I can figure out. :) I would LOVE some assistance though. My older daughter had reflex anoxic seizures. But they don't medicate for those -- they just outgrow them (which she did, thank goodness!)
