Stumbled upon this site the other day, and it looks great. My names Jared I'm 27 years old and I've been living with crohns since I was 19. I was first diagnosed at 19 my first year in college. I was first given predinsone and pentasa. That was not a fun time as I had some pretty bad side effects. The worst was the acne and my face got swollen pretty bad. I even remember a friend "joking" saying it looked like my face got stung by bees. A few months later I had a flare up and ended up in the hospital with a food tube shoved down my nose. Worst few days of my life. Just glad they gave me good drugs to get through it. I ended up switching over to remicade which was fantastic for me. I've now been 6 years in remission. I've only met 1-2 people who ever had chrons, so this site is great. It's nice to be able to share experiences. Since chrons is so individual I've just gone through trial and error figuring out what works and what doesn't. I'm here to meet others who've gone through similar experiences and share information. My goal now is to improve my overall health and share any info that might be useful.

:welcome: Jared,

I'm glad you found us. There is a lot of great info and experience here. This is also a great place to blow of steam if you need to. I'm glad the Remicade has worked so well for you. I'm on it as well. Take a peak at the thread for the Remicade club...:)

To the madhouse!

I've been on remicade for about 6 years, but actually just got put on the humira pens about 6 months ago. From what I understand it's basically the same thing as remicade, but I do it myself every 2 weeks. So far so good as i haven't noticed any changes. I definitely prefer this way because I took remicade every few months, and could tell when I really started to need it. Seems that this way it's a smaller constant dose so I'm never really in pain.
