Hi,
I'm Ros, 27 from Blackpool UK. I was diagnosed with Crohns in April 2010. I had been symptoms since December 2009 but because I was pregnant with my second child they were unable to see the Crohns until after I had her.
The doctors tried to control it with medication for 6 weeks but I was rushed back in and had a emergency ileostomy. I was back eating and drinking well and in November I had the operation reversed.

I am currently on no medication for preventing the Crohns coming back and said to my consultant today I wanted to tried and prevent it with natural remedies. He has been supportive against his opinion and said he will review me in 6 months.
I dont know whether I'm being naive thinking I will get on with my life as before, but I feel really positive about it. I havent had Crohns that long and dont really know much about it. Every time I go on the internet I come across conflicting information.

Iam still in the early stages of the disease where I'm asking the whys and what if questions. So joined on here to make friends and get advice and see how you all cope with Crohns.

:)

Welcome Ros!! What specifically are you doing to fight crohns? I'm always interested to read what works for others. Good luck and keep posting!

hi Ros & welcome to the forum :)

i would also say that avoidance drugs probably aren't necessary if you don't actually have active Crohn's now.. i'm one of those people who hate medications unless they're really needed.. but i do support healthy & alternative diets/supplements.. so i guess i'd say just follow as healthy a diet and lifestyle as you can, avoid stress, do some kind of exercise and relaxation every week, & be careful with things in the future which are possible catalysts for Crohn's, such as long term antibiotics...

just as a side note, after my surgeries in 1986, i enjoyed 20+ years Crohn's-free.
