Hello All,

I am a 47 yo female who was diagnosed with moderate to severe CD midway thru this year but suspect I've been an undiagnosed sufferer for most of my life. Still trying to get the meds right & returning to my specialist this coming week to see if he's going to give me a colonoscopy for Christmas & change my meds.
I am very happy to have found this forum & have found it most enlightening reading thru the various threads.
Best wishes to you all for improved health & happiness.

Hello Mystygal!
Do you know where your Crohn's is located? What meds are you on right now?
What are your symptoms?
This forum as you will come to find out is a great place to come to learn, vent, cry and laugh. There is ample support from every direction. Again , Welcome!

Hi Mystygal :welcome: I'm another from Downunder.

Many of us had years of undiagnosed IBD so can sympathise with you. Hopefully you will soon get the right meds and start to feel better.

My CD is all throughout my colon, individual ulcers & granulomas. I am currently on Mercaptopurine, Pentasa & coming off Prednisolone for the latest flare. When I was first diagnosed, the meds seemed to kick in really fast & I was so fortunate not to experience any major side effects. Two months after coming off Prednisolone post colonoscopy & diagnosis, I started to flare - unfortunately, this time the Prednisolone has not had the desired effect as I am still experiencing urgency, frequency & diarrhoea so back to the specialist this coming Thursday.
Many thanks for your words of welcome.

Hi Mystygal
Another Aussie here. There are quite a few on here - which is great.
Getting the right meds can be a bit of a trial.
Hope it all works out well for you. Good luck with it.

Well, here's the update. My GI has decided to leave me on my current meds, I'm now down to 2.5 mg of Prednisolone & will finish on the 28th of this month. The fact that there is some improvement - no more nocturnal visits - & that the increased dose of Mercaptopurine will take about 3 months to take full effect is his reason for leaving things be for now.
I must admit I felt a bit anxious about the prospect of changing meds as there was talk of a 'staging colonoscopy' & injectable med which I guess would be Humira? If all goes well with continuing improvement meaning less frequency, diarrhoea & urgency, I won't see him again until mid February.
Thanks to all those who have been following my story & offering support - I wish you all the best of health possible & happiness during the holiday season.
