Hey hey,

I thought I should introduce myself. My name is Kate/Katie, and I live in Sheffield at the moment, but am a Somerset girl at heart. I have only recently been diagnosed with Crohn's although I have been ill for many years.
Have has all the various tests... fun fun, and am just finishing a course of steroids.

I have found changing my diet to have been a great help, and have been dairy free for about 2 years now.

Since being diagnosed, I feel like I can start to regain some control over my life.... I am going to Scotland soon, and have even bough tickets to a small festival later this year (I am pretty scared).... but at least I am going in our camper van (which has it's own facilities)!

I think joining this forum, be a good step in trying to understand my condition, whilst being able to share ideas and experiences from other members.

That's about it.... so hello to you all! :)

Welcome to the forum Katiepede.

I think giving up Milk is extremely important for anyone with Crohn's.

I am glad the diet helped you out. My diet can also influence my condition.

Have fun at the Festival and enjoy yourself.

Dan

I have also found that olive oily things seem to dislike me, and peanut butter, which is a terrible shame... as I could eat that all day! :)

Do these foods usually cause problems?

Katie

Different people have trouble with different foods, but quite few have problems with fats and oily foods. I guess it just makes everything that much easier to slide on through.

I don't have a problem with reasonable amounts of fat and oils, but Onions and Malt will swell my guts like a balloon.

Dan

Ah yes, I have heard that some people have onion problems and some have garlic... and generally you'll be one or the other..... I seem to react to garlic.....

I have just found the foody bits on this forum! ooh! :)

Welcome! I am recently diagnosed too, and I also find Dairy and oils a complete nightmare. These days I find the best thing for me is smash and grilled fish... anything else is pushing my luck!

Good luck with the festival - I am sure you will be fine. My GP has given me Mebeverine which I use if I am going to have a day out or go on a trip - it keeps things calm for a while - have you tried it?

Hi Kate/Katie -
Welcome to the forum. Lots of good info here - we all seem to react differently to foods.
