Yes it is safe to take the prep, at least the prep I had (Moviprep) said the same and the docs said it was OK. Make sure you drink plenty of fluids during the day leading up to the prep, and take it slowly with plenty of water in between. You may not need to take it all since you always have diarrhoea, once you're 'running clear' you can stop with the prep.

Weight loss is not absolutely necessary with Crohn's. And many of us can control our BMs (for the most part :s) as it depends where the Crohn's is. (small bowel Crohn's is more likely to lead to weight loss as that's where nutrients are absorbed, inflammation in the rectum causes urgent or uncontrollable BMs). But I'm afraid with clots of blood, that does sound like IBD since blood from piles doesn't have time to clot.

Good luck with the prep and scope, not the most pleasant things but once you have a diagnosis you can get treatment and hopefully be feeling better soon!

Unfortunately, the prep is necessary to get the best results of your test. Make sure you follow the doc's directions to the "t" and you will give them a better forum in which to conduct their test. Good luck. Hopefully the test will provide the answers you need.

Since you may be a little burning/sore, suggest you rinse with water as you "unload", so you can keep the area calm.
