Hello all, Im writing to get some ideas for my brother who has crohns. He's had it along time and has also tried just about everything. He's taking Remicade treatments right now but only seem to help about 2 weeks then everything goes bad again. He's lost alot of weight and only eats about 1 or 2 times a week which I know has to be very bad. On top of Crohns he also has multiple sclerosis.....Im trying to get him to see a Crohns specialist but he's afraid that if he sees another doctor that his current doctor will drop him as a patient. I know that sounds crazy but his current doctor has always been there for him. We will in Ohio and I have heard that the Cleveland Clinic is really good. If anyone has the name of a good Crohns doctor in Ohio please let me know........
Thanks for reading........

Hello Doxiedoggie,

Welcome and I am sorry to hear about your brother's situation. It sounds like your brother should really try to get more calories in him or else he will just to continue to lose weight. I know it may not be easy for him to eat, but he should increase caloric intake if he wants to give the doctors the best chance at finding something to help him.

Check the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America's website where you can search for CCFA Physician members in your state. These are people who I believe have donated money to the CCFA, so if they are not experts at least they are aware of the disease and may be able to provide some help. Speak with them or your doctor currently about the situation and just tell the truth how your brother really values the current doctor, but wants another opinion as he is really suffering currently. Your doctor should be understanding if (s)he really wants your brother to be healthy.

Good luck and I hope the link I provided can be of some help.
