So on Tuesday I finished my two strong antibiotics & the ulcers or whatever they are as no one seems to have put a name to it, have become a lot deeper, continue to ooze pus and are sore. I'm pretty sure the one close to my stoma is causing me pain every time the stoma is active.
I feel a little nausea as well.

Im due an MRI for them on Wednesday but im not sure if I should take myself to A&E today as its deteriorated? Because the radiologists won't be treating the thing, I know that. My biggest dilemma is that I live about 60 miles from the specialist hospital I go have open door & a relationship with, so if its pricey, stressful & they just send me home, I'll be a tad annoyed...

Can you call your GI and try and get an emergency apointment? It sounds like their might be some type of infection going on. There could also be puss build up in the area causing the skin to deteriorate. I just worry with it being so close to your stoma and your stoma being affected by it that you could be causing damage to the stoma.

My thoughts exactly! They don't really do emergency appointments which is why I have the open door at A&E :( I mean the infection SHOULD have gone with the metronidazole & ciprofloxacin, so like you say, I'd assume there's more to it than meets the eye.

You don't think I should wait for the MRI then? That's good cos I'm not keen on letting it get worse between now & then too. Panic mode!

Hey. I'm experiencing the same thing right now. Doctors are keeping an eye on it. I'm looking to get an apt with an ET nurse. Please keep us updated.

Hello all!

Just spent the day at hospital for fun it seems. Sticking to the MRI next Wednesday & have a clinic appointment the following day so if anything shows up, which we all know will, I'll be staying in from then on.

Annoyed me a little that I have to just suffer til then but what can you do!

It seems crazy to me that they would just let that sit! From what you have explained it sounds like there could be something serious under the skin. I hope nothing gets worse for you and they figure out whats wrong with the MRI, keep us updated on how you feel, or if you have any questions. I have had major infections after 90% of the surgeries I have had so I know a thing or two, feel better

I know right! I've got my appointment with the stoma nurses the day after my MRI to review it & call the surgeons across if needs be. I've also ordered some ostomy powder with my bags as I've read good things about keeping skin dry and maintaining the sticky of the bags. Wonder if anyone could give me a second opinion on the stuff?

a second opinion never hurts! I hope you get it sorted out before anything goes really wrong. Keep check of your symptoms, if anything progresses or newer symptoms arise that are more serious go back to the A&E. Also I would be sure to monitor the output and make sure it doesn't significantly decrease. I am not sure how blockages happen with a stoma or if they can happen, I don't know very much about them, but if its right by your stoma I would say there is always the possibility
