I've been on prednisone for about 3 weeks. On Tuesday I dropped from 40mg to 37.5mg. Since the drop in having really hard trouble passing stools. I think its caused by the steroids because I never have C. I have sharp pain and bloating in my lower abdomen and I feel awful. It's so hard to get things moving and when I do I get the sweats and its so hard. Can anybody help me pls? I'm miserable and starting to feel nauseous. I was thinking of starting FYBOGEL but I'm afraid things will start flaring up. I'm very sensitive to stuff like preps and even dulcolax.

You should really tell your primary this and do as they suggest, there are certain laxatives that can actually cause damage, bad things, issues when you have a IBD.

Knowing this, I wouldn't want to recommend anything myself besides maybe natural ones, like coffee, or coffee ice cream, which them selves can also cause flare ups depending on your system. Really, talk to your primary.

You don't even have to go in, you can relay this over the phone.

Talk to your doctor but meantime up your fluid intake and a tip from my gi nurse, eat a small piece of a food that sets you off in my case melon, but make sure to speak to your doctor.all the best

I don't think you should assume it's the prednisone. A lot of things can cause constipation, and with IBD especially you probably should check with a doctor that there's not a more serious cause.

If you do try laxatives, I would start with stool softeners rather than stimulant laxatives, start with a very small amount and build up gradually.

Thanks for the tips guys. My hospital has an ibd drop in clinic tomorrow so I'll call in to see my docs. I had some relief earlier thanks to water and strong tea!! Just had my humira shot so hopefully more relief will follow.
