Help with side effects of humira and remicade

Hi, I was diagnosed with Crohns about a year and a half ago. I'm 52. My doctor started me on pentassa and enticort but the systems were still there. I recently started on 6mp but after 3 weeks had terrible side effects and my pancreas levels are eleavated. He now wants me to take Humira or Remicade but I have read alot about the side effects and esp. the hair loss it scares the crap out of me. I try to eat a Gluten free diet but no relief. Any help would be appreciated

I haven't really experienced any hair loss on Remicade.....been on it for 7 years now. As for any other side effects, I'm a bit tired the day of and after (may be due to Benadryl though).....weight gain from being able to eat stuff.....I did develop a skin condition a couple years ago, but that has been slowly clearing up, and I'm not convinced it was Remicade related.

Wow thanks, has it helped with the Crohns? I'm lucky I don't have the pains and cramping. I just have alot of D and I tire easily

Hi, I was on remi for a couple of years, until I developed a reaction to it. Found it pretty good up till then. Never noticed any hairloss on remi, but did on Humira, pred and sulfasalazine. I am 51, and also have a bit of thinning from perimenopause. Try to eat a good diet, I take a multi with biotin in it for hair and also a oiling with castor oil and coconut oil will help shedding. I am on LDN now and doing really well, no side effects at all. Good luck with your treatment, try not to read too much into the side effects, not everyone gets them, main thing is to get well.
