Hi everyone, nice to greet you
I've had Crohn's since '94, diagnosed '96, initially mis-diagnosed with IBS by my old GP but after a year it was clear there was more to it so my new GP reffered me to GI. My GI put me straight on pred, pentasa and azathioprine and it was all going smoothly til 2000 when i developed a stricture (i put it down to a stressful break-up) which was removed by resection surgery in '01.
Felt amazing for a few years but in '03 i started back at work and within 4 months was on my back again with bowel obstructions. Docs couldn't find anything for 18 months, i had so many tests but nothing showed up (i blame the radiologists), finally my GI put all the results together and together with the consultant radiologist they found an abnormal loop in the small bowel which the crohn's had attacked. So more surgery, stricture-plasty this time.
Again felt great for years, til last year when i started getting obstructions again - more tests. I now have a narrowing of the ascending colon and several strictures of the small bowel. A short course of pred has helped a lot but that's finished now. New GI wants to start me on azathioprine again, but he didnt mention surgery for now which is a good thing. He's waiting for blood results to see if Azathioprine is ok for me - next appt 10th March so fingers crossed for that!
wanted to join here for some company, im a single man early 40's living alone, family is supportive but lack understanding and often get things muddled up even when i've laid it all out for them. lost my social life pretty much and im not working atm so it'd be nice to have some ppl to chat to.
