hi everyone

hello everyone, well my story started most like some here, when i was younger.. sigh i been in and out of the hospital most of my life from being really anaemic, or from terrible pains in my tummy... when i was 18 i went to military doctor in new york and he pretty much told me i was lieing about the pain and its all in my head.. lived 2 more years with the pain but it wasnt as bad as now.. i had my son whose almost 2 now, and after i had him my body just went crazy and i been in and out the emergency room for the whole of last year.. all i got from them was really stong pain relief but nothing to make the stomach pain go away for good.. the ending of last year i couldnt deal with it anymore so i decided to go to the military doctor where i live now and she was concern, she sent me for numerous test and low and behold in 2 days she gave me meds that actually work ( sulfasalazine aka azulfidine).. those meds were a blessing and i haven't had any problems with my tummy since.. she wanted to make sure she was right and last week i went to the gastro doctor who did a colonoscopy and he told me that i had crohns... i dont have it as severe as some but i still will have to take the pills most of my life.. i want to say if anyone has it severe version of this, god you are in my prays, because with mines i couldnt even move once the pain hits.. so i google this site to have some one that understands what im going throught, and feel like im not alone..

Hi spcwife, and welcome!

I'm pretty new to the forum myself, but find everyone so supportive. Like you say, it's great to know you're not alone in this. And believe me, you're not.

Pleased to hear you've found the meds the work for you!

heya, thanks so much for the welcome.. and im greatful those things work also. the only bad thing with the meds is i am dizzy after taking them so i cant take them when i have to go out anywhere, since i drive me and my son.. but i can find ways around that.. i have to go to an appointment feb 1 to see the gastro and hes gonna tell me exactly what he will do with medication.. i hope he doesnt take me off since they work very well with me. my husband is deployed to iraq so its hard dealing with this alone with my year old son

Hiya

Maybe you could ask for Pentasa or Asacol. These are both 5ASAs (amnio salicylates)like sulphasalazine but contain mesalazine and are sulpha free.
Many people can't tolerate the sulpha, some are allergic to it, and it might be why you're dizzy?
Ask your doc about them
