Just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself. I'm Deborah and I live in Dallas, TX. I've had Crohn's disease for about 20 years and after having a relatively "easy" relationship with it for most of that time, I blew up last year and I had my first (and hopefully last) abcess/micro-perforation that led to a resection.

Surgeon pronounced me "Crohn's Free" after the December surgery and in March, tests showed it was back. :(

Currently on Pentasa 1000 mg 4x and doc just added Azathioprine so on my second week of that.

I'm so happy to have found you all here and look forward to getting to know ya'll better.

Hi Deborah and :welcome:

Good to see you here! I'm glad to hear you had an okay relationship with the Crohns for so long but sorry about the setback.

I hope the new med regime puts the CD back in it's place for another 20 or more years! My son had the same surgery for the exact reason at the beginning of April. I'm hoping it also puts him into remission for a very long time, with a little help from the Imuran.

Good luck hun and welcome aboard. I look forward to seeing you around.

Take care. :)

If only surgery was a cure. That would be wonderful. Unfortunately its not. What meds were you on post surgery if I might ask? I hope those meds work out for you! Welcome to the forum! :D

Hi Deborah and welcome! I'm sorry to hear that the Crohn's is back after surgery but hopefully they'll get you into remission soon.

I'm glad you found your way here and hope to see you around :)

*hugs*

Crabby, for the year prior to my surgery I wasn't on anything since the Crohn's had been in remission for almost 5 yrs. Funny thing was, I was complaining about being constipated and as it turns out that was when my absess/perforation was "baking". At various points in the past when I would have a flare, my GI would put me on Pentasa and it would always get it right under control. Post surgery, not the case.

It seems logical to go off of meds when everything is fine but its usually the meds that make everything fine. I'm surprised your doctor took you off of meds entirely. My doctor took me off of Asacol since I've been doing well for over 10 years but kept me on 6MP so I can stay doing well. I hope you start feeling better soon.
