Hi all, I am new to this forum, I found you while looking for information on Perianal Crohn's. I became ill with Terminal Ilius Crohn's 24 years ago aged 18 and was diagnosed pretty quickly. The disease was quite mild and I went into remission aged 25. This lasted for 12 wonderful years but returned with a vengeance 5 years ago. I now have Terminal Ilius and Perianal Crohn's.

I am currently waiting to go into hospital for an examination under anaesthetic as it too painful for the doctor to examine my butt while I am awake!!! I have fissures and skin tags and I am in constant pain. When I was like this back in 2008, the surgeon injected botox which helped for a while, he's planning to do this again. I think I may have to put up with the tags though, the surgeon won't remove then as he says it won't heal :yfrown:

I currently take Pentasa, Azothiaprine and Omeprazole, also codeine Phosphate for the pain (I rattle when I walk :ylol:)

Hi there and welcome!

Awwww, I'm so sorry to hear your Crohn's has come back with a vengeance :( You poor thing.

Can you explain the botox treatment? I haven't heard of that before and am quite interested.

I hope everything goes well for you! We're here for you anytime. Take care! :)

welcome :)

sorry to hear that things aren't going terribly well for you at the moment.
you will find heaps of great infomation and support here.
i also have perianal symptoms and are curious about the botox treatment???

Hi

One of the reasons for fissures not healing is because the sphincter muscle goes into spasm. The botox is injected into the sphincter, effectively performing a chemical sphincterotomy as it relaxes the muscle. The effects last for about 3 months allowing the fissures time to hopefully heal.

It worked last time, I'm hoping it work again!

Hi Seaside and welcome! I am sorry to hear your long remission had to come to an end! I sure hope you start to feel better soon.

I hope your second round of botox treatment is a success. Please let us know how it goes!
