I have bronchitis and I'm sick, sick, sick!

I quit smoking last year for 8 months and caved in like an idiot when I didn't NEED the nicotine, I only WANTED it to calm me down during stressful times.

I was just reading that bronchitis is a form of COPD which means people need to stop smoking immediately or it could get worse and damage the lungs. I have asthma!!!!

I'm not smoking, I'm not smoking anymore, I'm not smoking anymore, I'm not smoking anymore. My mom has COPD, emphysema, a prolapsed mitrovalve in her heart and a lump on her lung from smoking. One of my family members died from smoking, heart disease and massive heart attacks run DEEPLY in the women on my mom's side of the family.

I'm not smoking anymore, STUPID STUPID STUPID! I'm SO STUPID. This is me quitting smoking. I'm done. That's it. I'm done. LORD HELP ME :(

:mbh:

Good for you for seeing the mistake of starting up again, and I hope you are able to quit without relapsing. My dad used to be the same way, he'd smoke and then have a massive coughing fit... and then light up another smoke. Finally he decided one day that he was going to quit, and he hasn't touched a cigarette since. That was many years ago, so it is possible to quit cold turkey and not relapse. Good luck, and I hope you get well soon from your bronchitis! Sending you virtual hugs :)

Confusius says; only stupid if you know, and yet don't do anything about it... Well close enough! :)

Good luck with stopping, it'll be worth it in the long term!

Hopefully quitting will be easier while you have the bronchitis, since it hurts so bad to smoke with bronchitis. That's what did it for me -a bad bout of bronchitis 3 years ago and haven't smoked since.

You can do it - hang in there!

Good Luck. I have started and stopped smoking more times than I can recall. I finally quit for good at the beginning of the year. Most times, I just quit cold turkey, but this last time, I used the patch. It helped me alot. Don't give up, you can conquer this. You'll feel so much better (and smell better too), you won't miss it at all.

Quit quitting is what my husband used to say... I have quit 9 years ago and my husband 3 years ago. It is not easy but usually once you get past a certain point it gets easier. I hate the smell of it, and I was terrified of getting emphysema.. not being able to breathe scares me.

Hang in there, you know it isnt good for ya, never mind the cost and the cost of your life. Take it one day at a time. Chew gum and carry a bottle of water around! Helped me and I only used the patch for 2 weeks. Good luck!

You can do it! I was a smoker as well...and to be honest I liked smoking a lot. I couldnt do the cold turkey thing so I tried Chantix...expensive but a MIRACLE. Instead of craving a cig, it was more like a passing thought.
Stay strong. Remember the reason you feel relaxed while having a cig is because you are breathing deep...so breath deep, just without carcinogens

when i had a few wobbles when quitting i would go to the health shop holland and barrat. they sell nicotine and toboccoa free ciggys. they were great as ou kidded your brain that you were smoking, but they had none of the horrid stuff in them, so were "healthy"
