Hello everyone! I am new to the forum. Every time I do a search for some symptoms this forum comes up :) as a result I joined and book marked the site.

About me - I am 40 years old and was diagnosed 4 years ago with Crohn's. I had symptoms probably 6 months to a year before my diagnosis. I had frequent urges to go and D which was bloody. I have an identical twin brother that was diagnosed 20 years ago. So needless to say I had some indication. Anyway I started having issues after a rough period in my life. My wife had a horrendous pregnancy (on bed rest, in the hospital, for 4 months!) and my father had died shortly after the birth of our daughter. I am a very anxious person by nature and anytime I anxious it would hit my stomach my whole life. That period in my life took the anxiety to the next level. I have always wondered how much stress plays apart.

In any case they put me on asacol 1600 3xD to start out and it worked right away. Eventually my Dr. cut me back to 800 3XD and it still worked fine. No issues what soever, I could eat and drink whatever I wanted. That was until about a month ago. I started having symptoms of going more often but didn't think much of it. Ironically I had a Dr. appt right around the time and didn't really think it was anything to mention (yes - real dumb). She drew all kinds of blood work and everything was fine - except my Vitamin D. She ordered 50000 once a week for 10 weeks. I had the same prescription last year at this time. Over the last few weeks the CD has gotten worse. I have had the same symptoms. In addition my back hurts, I have mild pain in my left side and sometime my right side. My joints also hurt. In full transparency here, prior to the flare I was drinking more alcohol, probably twice a week (anywhere from 4-8 beers), taking Advil for any type of pain. (Advil is the only thing that works for me). I also drink coffee. The only real difference in my normal routine over the last few years was there was more alcohol. Over the last week I cut out all my vices - alcohol, coffee, Advil, bad foods, ect. In addition, doing everything I can find to help, yogurt, all kinds of vitamins, exercise, etc. It has simmered down a bit. I have only gone 1 or 2 times over the last three days but my back still hurts and my abdomen on both sides is still bothering me..its mild but I can feel it. If I don't notice a difference by Monday I will be calling the GI. Please share any and all thoughts on any aspect of the post. Thanks - Joe
