Hi, so my daughter has been getting these white lumps with red around them and they look a lot like hives I have given her piriton. It reduces the itching but the hives still seem to come. Has anyone experiencing these symptoms and are they to do with Ibd or something else. Also she has an appointment with the hospital in a week so if they don't go I will ask there.

Even if they do go away I'd still ask about it. Take a picture of it now and show it to the doctor if it clears up by then and write down her symptoms in case you forget.

I used to get some sort of rash or hives before I had my resection when I was around 16 years old. I was told that it was likely from being on high doses of steroids and was also told to stay out of the sun as that could make the hives worse. I mainly had them on both arms. They were itchy, red clusters of bumps and a little raised. I haven't had them since yet I also haven't taken a high dose of steroids since then either.

Besides sun and certain medications (antibiotics, steroids, Ibuprofen, pain medications etc) being deficient in some vitamins can also cause hives or rashes. I'd definitely let her doctor know about it. It may be a sign that she needs certain tests done to check her vitamin levels, adjust her medication or at the very least offer a better treatment so she can get faster relief if it happens again.

Ds gets lots of hives due to allergies
He also has sweets syndrome
Hives tend to disappear within twenty four hours from a single location ( typically they last 2-4 for my kiddo ) one set of hives disappears and another reappears in a different spot ( not the same location.
Does she have environmental allergies ?
Any new detergent or soap perfume lotion ?
Taking pics is a good idea as well as drawing lines in ink around them to
Monitor location or growth
You can get rashes of things that are not hives
Sweet syndrome is one
Like like a hive ( sometimes )
Itches like crazy at least for ds
But stays in the same spot for days and tends to multiple in clusters
Benadryl at least for ds did nothing for these
They flare the same time as crohns in 80% of patients
Dx is done with biopsy and treatment is steriods

Might try a dermo or allergist
Good luck
