I got diagnosed with Crohn's two years ago. I'm currently taking prednisone due to a big flare up. I am writing to see if anyone has heard of a doctor prescribing parasite medication as a means to treating Crohn's. He prescribed biltricide and albendazole. He said that 70% of his patients end up getting better through taking these medicines. Anyone heard of taking these to cure parasites and in result their Crohn's?

How about ozone gas therapy?

Hi and welcome.

I've never heard of any of these treatments. Is this doctor a GI specialist?

He is a medical doctor, but focuses on a holistic or integrative approach. He does acupuncture and also is experimenting with the fecal transplants that you may have heard about. He is not a GI specialist.

Unfortunately crohns doesn't have a cure. Although there are no shortage of 'cures' out there. They may help with symptoms.

Are you also under the care of a GI doctor? When do you taper the prednisone?

I'm already tapering the pill. While there is no formal cure. I think there are debates on the cause. While some think it's an auto-immune disease some think it could also be diet curable or parasites in this case. This doctor doesn't know if it will cure me, those patients in which they do not have recovery through these parasite treatments are most likely being impacted by an auto-immune issue he said. Time will tell. Just wanted to see if anyone out there has tried it.

I hope it is successful.

I'm interested to hear if anyone else has heard of it or tried these therapies.
