Woohoo...Have been released at last from the clutches of the NHS, and WITH my colon still intact!
I have no doubt that I will again face the possibility of a Colectomy, and will again cry my eyes out at the very prospect....but for now, all of me that went into hospital, has left the hospital:thumright:
Had my White Blood Cell scan on Friday, so now awaiting the results next week in out patients. I'm now also preparing an appeal to our local health authority for the right to try Infliximab, so that should keep me busy for the remainder of this week.
Tonight I will sleep like a baby, and I don't think it will be drug induced either. One thing I really missed was my bed, and my own space, so being home is heaven! I'm hoping that I can now see out 2010 without admission no6 for the year - fingers, toes all crossed!!

And finally, to any nurse, doctor or healthcare provider/worker out there, you have my utmost respect and gratitude for all that you do. I may rant about our NHS, but without it, God knows where I'd be. So a very BIG 'Thank You'.

And xx

Glad you are out of hospital .. Apart from tired how are you feeling?

All the best in gettting the drugs you need

Woohoo, great news Welshy!

Sending loads of luck on getting approved for Infliximab....

:goodluck::goodluck::goodluck:

Take care hun, :)
Dusty

Hi Rygon, well apart from feeling tired, I feel really good thanks. Think the Preds are doing their work, and are starting to get the inflamation under control. The partial blockage also seems to be sorting itself out, so I'm hoping that it's all heading the right direction!! Loving the pic, where did you do your skydive? I did one last year in Adelaide, and would love to do another! Hope you're keeping well.

Thanks Dusty, will keep fighting for the approval- Never say die mentality here!!

Misty - Thank you. Yes refused Inflix for UC. I was put on Ciclosporin and had a major reaction to it, and our trust is sticking to NICE guidelines which state that Ciclo is the 1st drug of choice as last line treatment in UC. Inflix may well work, but removing my colons a whole lot cheaper! Now I have to convince the health board that its in my best interest to receive Inflix...oh well, I'm on the sick, so it will give me something to do!! Hope you're keeping well.

And x

Hiya Andrea!

so glad you're home! Nothing like ya own pit, hey?
Take care, and when you're up to it, give those NICE people a kick up the arse!
good luck and take it easy!

Yeh ive started on predfoam again, working wonders lol.
I jump at Hibaldstow, in Lincolnshire. Great place to jump as the planes are pretty quick at getting up to 15k.
Would love to do one in Adelaide, bet the scenery (and weather) was amazing. Theres a dropzone in Cardiff I seem to recall.

How was your sleep? Not still in bed are you lol

Hey Joan, how are you? Good to hear that you've finished the preds, hope that thing's are staying stable for you. If I have some probs with my Inflix fight, then I'll give you a nudge so that you may come and kick some bum on my behalf! xxx

Rebecca- I'm back with my parents for a few days of pampering, so still no need to make my own bed yet (big smile). Just wondering how long I can stretch this out for?

Rygon, the sleep was bloody amazing!! Just what I needed, and as a bonus it wasn't drug induced!! Good to hear the Predfoam's doing it's job, now I'm also looking for something that works equally as well on a seriously poorly colon. Any suggestions?? lol

Hey Kurt. Hope you're doing ok following the infusion- hope to be joining you soon!!

Thanks all for the best wishes,
Andrea

Ahh I never realised you had UC. Sorry! I hope you manage to get it then! I had ciclosporin years ago and it gave my body a coat of fine hair lol.

Good luck! x

Thanks Misty, yes the Ciclo is one nasty drug for excessive hair growth! Just wish I could have some of it now to counter the hair loss on Mercaptopurine..never rains eh? LOL xx

Indeed it never does! I could do with some now to keep me warm! Haha. Still, I guess some people have to take it for the rest of their lives so we shouldn't complain. AND you still have your colon so that's an extra bonus!
