how about a drink

just wondering really, how do you go on with havin a drink, if having one at all??
i realise what its like to be young and found it hard at first, all my mates going out all the time, and i stopped drinking for 18 mnths, not that being young matters.

does anyone drink?
what do you drink?
what drink affects you?

yes i am talking about alcohol

when i was really sick, I would have an occasional glass of wine or 2 & would pay for it dearly, during & after........now that i'm on Remicade & feeling great for the most part I can drink with the best of them!!
Remicade has really worked miracles for me, for the most part its like nothing is wrong me. Any symptoms/side effects that i do have are tolerable to say the least!

Good news for me is that I never liked alcohol to begin with. Not even wine.
(yuck, moldy grapes!) :ylol2:
But it is always hard when I'm at a social event and can't have alcohol with
everyone else. I just sit there with my apple juice :)
I've been on constant meds for 2 years, so alcohol is out of the question.

I have a drink very rarely. I just don't have a taste for any kind. When I do I usually only have a couple of sips and then I'm over it.

I haven't had a drink since my diagnosis over a year ago. Any alcohol causes diarrhea for me.

I used to be a very heavy drinker and have never found it to cause me any trouble but I have recently cut down a lot and now I hardly drink at all.

i rarely drink, but when i do i try to stick to just one... or else i feel drunk very quickly. i'm better on shorts, like Jack Daniels & Coke, or a glass of Baileys, than i am on wine or beer. but i sometimes have a bottle of Bud.

When I was was flaring I hardly drank at all. On the rare occasion that I did, I found that a little bit of hard liquor was a lot easier to tolerate than beer. One bottle of beer, and I would be hurting for the next two days.

Now that I'm in remission, I have no problems with alcohol.

i enjoy a baileys with ice in the garden on a barmy summers evening. and a drink at christmas, one bottle will last the year though.

Drinking doesn't bother me unless it's in excess. Beer doesn't seem to bother me, but too much hard liquor does. I don't drink often, and rarely in excess. However I do remember one occasion a couple of years ago when I was in a bad flare around the holidays and I drank too much with a friend. It made my flare up worse than it already was.

Unfortunately, I have no problems regarding drinking at all. Yes, I get a hangover and feel dodgy afterwards but who doesn't?

Beer, lager, red wine, they all get me pissed and leave me skint.

Beers with a bitter hops taste tend to settle my stomach.

I was never much of a wine drinker, but I'm starting to enjoy a little bit every now and then.

I stopped drinking after I was diagnosed at 17. I was never a big drinker anyway so I don't miss it.

I still go out with friends and have a good time anyway :)

I can drink to the point of drunkenness when I'm not having any real symptoms. Unless i get drunk I don't pay for it more than eating spaghetti with real beef or something. I can do a glass of wine or two easy when I'm having no symptoms and not have any problems.

When I have any sort of symptoms, I just don't drink at all. It's not worth it. Everybody is different though.

I am on meds too, and while I haven't yet drank this year I'm sure I will at one point or another, but not excessively and most likely wine or beer.

I like rum and coke. When I order them at bars, I felt fine especially in my stomach. But when I mixed them myself years ago, it use to make me sick. I realized after I wasn't mixing them right. I would put in a shot, and top it up with Coke, and add a ice cube. After 3-4 drinks or so, I'd feel sick. At a bar, they pack your glass with ice and add enough Coke to colour the drink which isn't very much. So I started packing my glass with ice and adding Coke enough to fill a shot glass or two, and never had a problem after. All that Coke previously was turning my stomach.

I hardly drink... in general, it tastes nasty and makes me feel funny!
Sometimes have a beer and cigar when I'm on holiday, but had enough after one glass... just about the same time the cigar is making me cough!

i drink occasionally. i drink vodka with coke or lemonade, champagne, wine, archers, baileys, apple sours, becks veir.

anything really.. dont like stella though.

i get drunk very quickley so i dont have a lot.

to be honest.. i would love to be able to go out and get absolutley trollied like all of my friends are doing.. and it really annoys me cos i cant go out with them cos ill be roped into drinking alot more than i should. but the GI already thinks my problems are due to drinking( no one believes im an 18 year old who doesnt get trollied every night!) i only drink on special occasions.

I come from a pretty big drinking family, and there was time when I would be consuming at least 10 standard drinks 3 or 4 times a week, these days though with work commitments and being a bit more responsible I probably have 1 big drinking night every 2-3 weeks.

I only drink beer now, I use to drink scotch but it gives me ruff guts the next day.

Drinking doesn't bother me, at times it seems to calm my gut.
I've been known to take a shot or two of black velvet or something before I go out.

Plus lately I have a drink to help me sleep at night,,,,not working to well,,,,it's 1am and I am on my 4th drink of vodka on ice...LOl

I drank 3/4 of a bottle of rum last night and it actually seemed to really help the gut. The best formed BM's I've had in awhile. Maybe that's my CURE FOR CROHNS1111!!!!11

I feel it's my civic duty to remind you that if you drink that much you must STAY OUT OF TREES!!!:eek2:
But that's the BEST time to be sittin' in a tree, in my opinion.

edit - Oh, and Drew - super congrats on "The best formed BM's I've had in awhile."

I'm only 23 but I used to be a huge drinker and never experienced any problems with it. I rarely drink now but when I do drink, beer kinda upsets my stomach but I don't have any problems with liquor.

I LOVE Wine!! I was born in the Wine Country, and my mom is always giving me free wine. It definitely causes some issues for me, but sometimes I really want it!
I could never drink beer or hard alcohol, Ill be up all night with my Tummy :)

I drink my gluten-free beer as much as I can afford to. Also can tolerate any hard alcohol, ironically even rye! But i'm a born-and-raised vodka girl.

i just cant drink enough to get drink, Celiac wouldn't allow it! After i reach its limit, when i start getting severe pains, i have to stop...unfortunately.
