Protein and fat both require stomach acid in order to be broken down. What about fruits and vegetables? I know they use other enzymes however do they require some stomach acid or none at all?
I am sensitive to many vegetables however just found that I can digest and have bowel movement with kale? I had pretty much abandoned all fruits and vegetables as I couldn't digest properly and wouldn't get bowel movements on them. It maybe that with some of them the problem wasn't with digestion, but a sensitivity reaction.
Since I can have kale it makes me wonder why was I able to digest that, I must have the enzymes for it. I cannot have carrots, potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli etc and many fruits give me foul smelling gas. As I have leaky gut I'm not allowed to have starchy vegetables however I am thinking of giving some a try as my calorie count is so low.
So do fruits e.g. apple require stomach acid or not? Also which vegetables have a similar enzymatic digestion profile to kale and should I maybe try(would prefer high carb and high calories)?
Thanks
