Do you know if the hospital provides any transport services?

I'm not sure how it works in England but some medical centers here in the US offer patients rides depending on the situation (usually from the hospital home though).

Good luck!

If you can find a number for a transportation department, I would try that one first. If not, then the hospital's main line can probably answer your question, or at least transfer your call to someone who can.

I'm not much use cos I'm in Northern Ireland but if I was a bit closer i would take you with pleasure, have you not a friend or neighbour you could ask?

Get receipts for whatever transport you use and if you are struggling can you get in touch with the social security about extra money or an emergency loan as it is important you keep your appointments.

No matter what you have, you shouldn't have to struggle don't be afraid to ask for help that's what it's there for.

Hi Josephine, I'm sorry to hear your having issues. It must be very stressful, but I'm glad to hear you have a sympathetic neighbour. I was thinking maybe you could also go to the Citizens Advice Bureau as I've heard they are very helpful, and it seems wrong that you have to struggle like this when you're not well.

I used to try and hitch-hike to my hospital appts. I could ill afford a car on incapacity and I lived in rural areas. my legs swelled up to point of stretchmarks and too much walking would walk the diarrhoea out of me. I used to give up if no one stopped for me and tbh I hated taking the risk. my health was at an artificially low level due to my circumstance. I got a 100 mile journey tomorrow and my joints are killing me, I hope I make it.

A hospital car service in cornwall costs about £60-80.

P.s
I don't recommend hitch-hiking these days!!! And yes, you can take travel cost with evidence to a cashier in the hospital if you take evidence of social services unemployment.

good luck though

Hello
Give your GP surgery a call, explain you are on benefits and they should be able to arrange free transport.
If not try the CAB and see if they know of a volunteer driving service.
Hope you get sorted. 😎
