Hi there. For some reason my insurance or pharmacy gave me the syringe form of Humira, instead of the pen type that I'm used to.

My question is: how deep do you push in the needle? Do you push it in all the way to the nub, or so half of the needle is showing, or a third?

Thanks.

use it just like the pen.... all the way. I liked the syringe because you can control the speed that you push the medicine.

Nope! The needle is the right size to get where it needs to go. I believe it goes into the fat, not the muscle.

Well, I did it, but I really need to switch back to the pen kind. I got the needle in fine, after overcoming the impulse to *not* stick myself with sharp things, but then when I drew the plunger back a little to see if there was blood I got confused. I couldn't tell if blood was in the syringe or it was just a reflection of my skin through the glass. Well I trucked on anyway and it HURT. The reason is that when I moved my hands around to use the plunger it caused the needle to pull out half way, and this happened more than once. Really hurt. I must have pushed it back in four times, although the tip of the needle never emerged from the skin.

Probably did a bad injection too. :frown: Why did they have to give me syringes.

Maybe call the pharmacy and get it straightened out so they send you what you want next time. good luck!
