How frequently can fever's occur with Crohn's please, and how long does the fever usually last?

Thanks, Sunny

Hi Sunny :welcome: to the forum. Fevers can occur at anytime and different temps. I get mine when it is fighting a flare. In my earlier diagnoses I got them all the time and I am not a bleeder or there was no other symptoms. Is your daughter on any meds?
:hang:

the more you learn from Crohn's sufferers, the more you'll see that it can vary so much from person to person... there are definite issues and symptoms in common, but things such as tolerated foods, severity of pain, level of debilitation and quality of life, can differ so much.. including the fevers... sometimes it can just be an ongoing very low grade fever, with the person feeling a little under the weather... other times it can be so bad that the person wakes up drenched in sweat - this is how i used to be at my worst when i was a teenager - my sheets would be soaking, but by the time i woke i was cold, so i don't know exactly how high my temp went at those times.

Hi Sunny

I get mine at night mostly (sometimes during the day, but I notice more at night). I have had them just about every night for about 6 months, however, they are low grade. I was recently told it is a sign of infection... and yes, I am in a flare (untreated Crohn's - until Monday). Mine are like what Dingbat described - the night sweats...
My temps are usually low grade when I feel exhausted (almost always) but the times I feel worse they are a little higher. They *usually hover between 99.4 - 100/101.
I am an adult and was suggested to take tylenol until I see my GI. I was told if I am vomiting and have a high fever to get help right away.
hope everything is okay
Wendy

Thanks again for your replies - the info is really helpful. I am also looking into something called FMF which it seems can also be mistaken for Crohn's or more usually appendicitis.... I don't know what to quite make of it all at the moment, but alarm bells are going off in my head and I think I do need to get this problem looked into a bit more now. I am taking my daughter to the doctor tomorrow, so I'll have a chance to discuss everything. thanks, Sunny

Just to say thank you to everyone on this tread for your replies and to let you know that I finally discovered what was wrong with my daughter. She is now under a rheumatologist who identified that she has a 'Periodic Fever Syndrome' and has put her on a medication that completely controls her fevers, the tummy aches, the aching muscles and all the other weird symptoms she was getting. She is now living a normal childhood again :D

Thank you for your support when I was going though a really tough patch and wishing you and your children all the best living with this challenging condition, Kind regards Sarah
