how long are your flare-ups and what are they like?

I find myself trying to distinguish between a flare and a remission........or how long they usually last if you could share that would be great

Pain, gas, bloat, bleeding. Remission is no symptoms of Crohns. Wish I knew what that was... everyone varies on the length of time, depends how diseased and where.

Well I was hoping to get more of a response out of this post......so if you feel comfortable id like for everyone to shave what there own personal flare-ups are like

The one I'm in now has been going on for over a year. Diarrhea, pain, bloating, fever, chills, etc. Everyday is different. I can't wait to get out of this. I am about to start my third course of prednisone this year. Maybe third times a charm?

I feel for you I had a 4 month flare up 2 months of remission and now I'm on my second I feel for you his is no fun

I was only diagnosed a couple months ago, but evidently I've been in a flare since November and it's only getting worse as I keep tapering the pred. So about 7 months and counting for this flare, but I haven't really got a good point of reference for how long mine usually last yet.

With the exception of this current flare, I would flare for a few weeks with severe pain, fever, nausea, diareah, exhaustion and moodiness. I would go to the dr to be sent home on pain and nausea meds with no answers. I would sleep for a week or so, dosed up on meds and wake up and feel fine. I would be able to resume normal activity, eating, drinking, workings, exercising....and would be fine for another year or so...then it would happen again. This flare has caused a presumed diagnosis, and Ive been sick since Jan. Im doing much better and things seem to keep progressing....but thru this last six months I have been thru so much....Im glad to finally have some answers.

Hi,
My flares are always different, I have had flares that last 6 months and have to be treated in hospital and then I have had flares that last for a few weeks. The most common flare is after I have been stressed with work/life and then I suffer for a couple of weeks, get put on Pred and I am nearly back to normal. Even when in remission I still have bloating and d all of the time. Just trying to get that under control myself at present.

My flares usually last for a few weeks. I don't really have any periods of feeling like I'm in remission, though. I pretty much have d, pain, and fatigue all the time. When I'm in a flare, I'll also have chills, vomiting, extreme weakness and light-headedness, and pallor. I also lose weight and get dehydrated really easily when I'm in a flare. I'm on pred right now and that's helping quite a lot, although the insomnia is not my friend. I wasn't able to sleep well to begin with, and now I can't fall asleep or stay asleep even if I've taken a sleeping pill. Fortunately, I'll be done with the pred soon, and hopefully I'll be able to get some rest then.

Well, I have been in a flare for years. My disease is in my extreme descending colon near my rectum, so it is hard to get oral meds there. THat is the problem. And I hate using suppositories. My symptoms include pain when I have a bm, gas, bloating, bleeding and mucus. I have some low grade fevers occasionally. ANd when I am really flaring badly, I have diarrhea also and weight loss. My flares and getting less worse now that I am treating with low dose naltrexone and alpha lipoic acid. I hope it puts my in remission, but it remains to be seen. Good luck to you!

Chris

Hi - I have just come up to a year with a flare. For me it's been bloating, pain, consitpation and the big D, fatigue, nausea, sinusitis, reflux in my larynx, and pain in my SI joints. I have chrons this time in my rectum and small bowel and ileum. At the moment I am struggling to eat solid food so have to be careful with the weightloss and managing diabetes too. I have just got a throat infection and lost my voice. About to start methotrexalate to send it all in to remission. Previous I was in remission for about 5-6 years. Bring that on - I want the remission

Im not sure if i have had a flare although im thinking thats what it was / is

I was vomiting from december to march lost a lot of weight could barely get out of bed , blurred vision , awful headaches (the only way i could explain it was it was like the worlds longest and worse hangover)

Im still not right now , tired ALL the time , feel sick , heartburn , tummy cramps , headaches all the time

Im not sure if this is still classed as a flare up or if indeed any of it is as i was only diagnosed 2 days ago
