Ever since I started Humira about 2 years now I have been in remission and to tell the truth I dont take it as I should...Im just wondering how long I need to be on it if Im feeling so well. I guess what Im trying to say is I feel as thought I dont have Crohns at this point....maybe it went away :) for good!! I wonder if that has ever happened.....

Is it that you want to stop taking it? T

But it can also go the other way meaning if you get off of it entirely or change meds your flare can possibly come back. I would definitely open up dialogue with your doctor about your current treatment and other possible maintenance options.

I hate how non-linear this darn disease is.

CrohnsChicago...
You read my mind lol...I noticed you have GAD I do also very severe..Im so glad CBT has helped you and meditation...Im actually thinking of looking into CBT with a different therapist and would like to try meditation also :). Oh and I live near Chicago also...Thanks for your reply.

You ARE from Chicago! I just noticed that! :) Despite the circumstances for being here it is comforting to see a fellow Chicagoan on this forum. I am constantly surprised at how hard it is to meet others in the city with Crohns. It's a pretty lonely disease.

Both CBT and mindfulness worked wonders for me. Just be aware that with CBT you have to be willing to put in the work in order to see progress. You have to try a lot of applying what you learn when you leave the therapist/counselor's office. At the end of the day though you have a very nice "tool bag" to help you get through the days. Mindfulness meditation is also SUPER helpful and the two compliment each other very well (at least for me they do). It's weird to do at first, seeing how us GAD people can't truly focus much on one thing for a long period of time especially during an episode. But with consistent practice you will find it very helpful and you find your body starts to instantly apply techniques such as the breathing exercises to calm the body in times of stress.

There are some good mp3 guided meditations I can recommend to you if you are interested. Or you can look up anything related to Jon Kabat-Zinn or his affiliates. He is considered the guru of mindfulness meditation in Western society. He is very insightful and he sometimes talks too much on his recordings but his associates also create recordings based on his practice and I find them easier to follow.
