How Long Does Hair loss Last From Imuran?

My daughter is responding well to the Imuran, but has quite a bit of hair loss. How long does it take for the hair loss to slow down and you get your hair back? She is just wondering because she is debating on if it is worth it to buy a wig or just wear hats until it comes back. We're hoping this can be a long term drug for her, so she will be on it a long time. Thanks!

Last year I experienced hair loss and sore knees when taking imuran. the hair loss was pretty substantial but i didnt require a hat or wig. Both symptoms didn't stop until I stopped the drug. When I was younger I was on Imuran and didn't experience any side effects. So I guess it's different per person :/

I am still losing hair from Imuran. I have very long hair. My daughter noticed it first. Don't know how long it will go on.

I am having joint pains from my Azathioprine. Did you stop the Imuran because of your knee pains?

The head of my Crohn's support group told me the hair loss was from Imuran (azathioprine). My doctor didn't know. I still take it. But I have joint pain all over, mostly in hips. I don't know what to do. I rest and use a heating pad. I just started Tylenol, but try to use as little as possible. If I have to choose between my hair and my gut, I pick the gut.
