Can you believe this? Yes

So I went to my friendly GI - gave him writers cramp filling out my annual prescription list. I send off the prescriptions to the mail service so that I can get a 90 day supplies. So on the form it asks for allergies and I added wheat to the list. based on blood tests from my oncologist

Now I get a phone call to call the pharmacist. The pharmacist gave me a choice

If I leave wheat allergy on my allergy list I cannot get my prescriptions filled because they do not know what the inert ingrediants are in tablets. So yes he can dispense a drug in which he does not know all the ingredients.

I had to take the wheat allergy off otherwise I have no drugs

As one sensible doctor said it is just a balance of poisons - was he so right

Thank you for letting me vent

thats really weired im only alergic to morphiene and fire ants so i dun have to worry about food, but its weired they would say that about your prescriptions.

Thanks for the reply

I just find it amazing that for food they can clarify the ingredients and yet for medication they can add what they refer to as an inert ingredient which could contain wheat. Many cronnies cannot tolerate wheat/ gluten. Would this combination of certain poisons then prolong or shorten the use of this drug.

It sadly highlights the farcical nature of the medication business.

Sorry this really brings out my cynical side

Thanks for listening

no prob and it really is interesting how they do it. iwould have never thought they would let it be like that. i mean with food they have every little ingrediant listed on the package it seems like in all that writing you get with your prescriptions they would have the ingrediants or at least what could be in it. its crazy!
