I regret opening my mouth about my kids being good. It was only two weeks ago that I thought my life was getting better. They decided to prove me wrong. My daughter was doing fine until test came with a high SED rate. No symptoms of nothing. Dr. order a calprotectin test, and she decided to start having watery stools since yesterday. How do you collect for the test?:poo:
Son was doing great about pain with new meds. Until he started getting constipated and other tummy issues, pains came back with vengeance. Dr. wants to do a colonoscopy next week. :ybatty::confused2:

For starters you'll want a hat (sterile container you can get at a medical supply store if you weren't given one by the lab). I'm not sure which collection kit you have (which one do you have?) but I found some instructions for one kit at least. http://www.calprotectintest.com/english/device_for_stool_collection.html

I'm sorry they aren't doing well but I'm glad that you and their GI are staying on top of it. Hope they both start feeling better soon. :)

^^^ yeah that
we used the hat and just "dumped" it in the container the best we could.
good luck .
hope they get a good plan soon.

Yeah that.^^^^^

The lab location I get go to for Grace always gives me extra hats, sterilized sealed cups, woods tongue sticks (not sure of the real name), even gloves when needed and medical transport bags.

When they see us coming now they always put their gloves on. :lol2:

I have all the things necessary to do it. hat and container and also a little dip stick. I have done it before with my son. The problem is, there is not even one solid piece. Can they do it if is liquid? Will it be better if I wait for a more solid piece?

You can do it if it's liquid, just get it up to the fill line. I wouldn't wait because she's clearly having issues now.

Thanks Jennifer. I will not wait any longer, she has gone 5 times today and usually at her worst she used to go 3 times. I am getting into panic mode right now, her last infusion was only 8 days ago. PLEASE let it be just an infection. I will call GI first thing in the morning tomorrow.

A little update. I was able to collect and deliver. I am waiting for results. Meantime Sed rate got back. Down to 16 (0 to 15 normal) from 28. So that means remicade, that was done 10 days ago did it's job. We will see if it is wearing out before the 8 weeks. She is going tomorrow to a retreat for 3 days, so I am kind of nervous about not being close to her. GI put her on 40 prednisone for a couple of days until calprotectin results come back. After 2 days with loose stools, she lost 2 pounds. Now it has been two days with no BM at all. Son has colonoscopy next Monday. I need one or two, maybe 3 :wine::wine::wine:
