I have been on and off pred for awhile now but my GI wants to put me back on it for a month or so to see if it can get my flare under control...I know when on it last time I ate like a cow and had TONS of energy, My question is has anyone been on it and used the energy side effect for good? like taking advantage of exercising and instead of eating junk food (like I do lol) and actually loose weight and get in better shape while on it? Im more or less wondering if it can be done, I try to exercise as regular as I can but when flaring it is sometimes hard to do, But I want to loose about 20 pounds and im thinking if I watch what I eat during this month or two and use the energy to work out a little more it could work a little better then normal.

I havent been on Prednisone yet. But I do work out and I noticed working out makes me MUCH hungrier. So its quite a predicament indeed.

I lost 20 pounds while on Prednisone. I didn't get the munchies too bad this time around. But I did cut out all processed food and went mostly vegan. This helped control the weight gain from the Pred.

I also started working out - yes, it does make me eat more too! But I wanted to do some strength training and other things to strengthen my bones since the pred can cause osteoporosis.

Good luck! - Amy

heya!
im still on the prednisone now. when i first started i put on nearly 8 kgs. whether it was a mixture of other drugs im on as well or just the pred. iv started watching what i eat and exercising and have lost 2.5kgs in 3 weeks. lol unlucky for me i didnt get the extra energy like other people. hope it works for you!!

Hi
How weird Lydia? I tapered to 15mg last week and got all my symptoms back, on 20mg now and feel like crap, no D or pain, just tired and fed up, and dizzy and lightheaded
I moved mountains on 40mg and 30mg, felt so well and energised, but I didn't exercise, I used this energy to clean my new house (moved here Xmas) and dug the garden over ready for Spring
However, beware, cos Pred masks, and all that hard work that I did has hit me like a brick now I've tapered down and I'm aching all over.
So take it easy Angee

I wouldn't go doing any powerlifting, just stick to some moderate exercise on a stationary bike and some high repetition weights work.

I'm nearly at the end of my first week on pred and so far nothing really. Inflamation area feels better, bowels operating in a normal capacity but apart from a few lower back twinges, an ache in my shoulder and slightly sore eyes I've had no severe side effects yet. Can't really say my energy is much different either, am sleeping great.

I came down stairs at 6am this morning to take the pred and looked in the mirror. "My face is fat" I thought, but in truth, that's not the pred
