Hi everyone, I'm new here and I'm posting for my boyfriend, a sufferer of Crohn's disease. He's been in remission for a few years now. Currently he takes Humira, Pentasa, and Prevacid. About six months ago he started the Humira after years of Remicade because of not wanting to miss work. It also switched him to a generic Prevacid. Since then, he's felt fairly dull; like he doesn't learn or catch on as quickly as he used to. I've noticed it in just talking to him, that sometimes it's hard to listen to him because it takes so long for him to get a thought out, and often I have to explain things to him multiple times. It's very sad and frustrating, I don't like seeing him this way and I know he doesn't like thinking he's dumb! Could this be the Humira or generic? I can't find anything online about it, has anyone else experienced this?
Humira and decreased wit/sharpness?

I've taken Remicade in the past and now I'm on Humira. I have never had any symptoms you describe or heard of anyone with these symptoms, but that doesn't mean it is not possible. These symptoms sound more like someone who has had some type of stroke. Has he told his doctor about this? I think that it needs to be addressed by his doctor.
Dukeis, we actually just made the connection today that this all started when he switched to Humira. He's seen his doctor multiple times since then and has gotten quite a few tests done since, but we never felt the need to tell her this because until now it seemed unrelated. Thats the next step, until then though just wanted to see if any light could be shed on it

I hope the doctor can help with this issue. Please let us know what she thinks may be the causes of his symptoms. Like I said just because there is no info that these meds can cause this, doesn't mean it is not possible. They find knew side effects all the time.

Something to consider - I'm arguing with my PA now about it. Anything that changes the PH of your stomach (prevacid in this case), can affect a lot of other things. She wants me to take Prilosec - may be the same thing, I didn't check - but I've been told by some medical pros that it can affect the absorption of vitamins and alter the bacterial content of the gut.
I don't have reflux, it's been checked with one of those upper endo things.
