Two weeks ago I had a colonoscopy and my Humira levels were checked. Results indicate that my Crohns is spreading to new areas and my body is developing antibodies against the Humira. I have been taking Humira once a week for the past 4 years. I have liver complications so methotrexate is not a good option for me, on top of which- my husband and I are discussing trying to conceive a baby. I'm 34, was diagnosed with Crohns about 15 years ago and have not had great medication luck (including allergic reaction to Remicade). I don't want to stop Humira but dr says it may not be working for me anymore. A switch to Cimzia is being discussed but I'm worried about some of the things I've read about it. Has anybody been in this situation? Are there any options that would help me stay on Humira OR has anyone made the switch to Cimzia? Thanks

Hi Emilyck718.

Sorry to hear the Humira may not be working for you anymore. :stinks:

I have not made a move to Remicade or Cimzia as Humira is still doing well for me. I just wanted you to know we are out here and listening.

Hi Emily. :) Sorry about your dilemma - I'm sure there are others here who have given up on Humira and are trying Cimzia, they just haven't seen your question yet.

I, like You, developed an allergy to Remicade. I tried Cimzia after that but my CD advanced on that (dealing primarily with fistulas), so I was moved to Humira (now on weekly doses). It hasn't cleared things up but it is keeping things from getting worse. Sadly, Remicade was the most effective but I couldn't go back on despite seemingly mild reactions (GI ordered an antibody test to confirm).

Best of luck to you!

I've been on Humira for four months now and have seen no results. My Crohns is as bad today, as it was the day I was diagnosed. My doc has ordered the antibody test and has said if I don't have antibodies, he'll increase my dose to weekly. If I do (which would be very odd), he'll have to figure out something else. I've never been on Remicade or Cimzia. He said there was a new one - something that started with a "D", I think.
